I'd imagine he's very much in with a shout of getting a game for the Dutch national team now.

He is definitely going for millions in the next couple of seasons, no doubt about it.

Just hope he stays long enough to win a few trophies.

He reminds me of the first time I saw Kompany playing against us.

He stood out like a sore thumb. Just so calm, so assured, great on the ball, great in the air.

    He is the real deal.

What impresses me the most is that the guy is so young, yet looks like he's been playing at Champions League level for years. So assured and confident in his own abilities, he has all the makings of a world class centre half.

Guaranteed there will already be a few clubs lining up moves for him next summer, especially the vultures down south. I'd imagine that there will be a few scouts at the Milan home game.

Anyone know why he got a yellow (or at least I think it was him?) when Forrest was about to take the penalty? Was dead confused over that.

He was basically a straight swap for Wilson when you think about the money we received and spent on them both, and we definitely got the better deal of the two.

He is a far superior all round player than Wilson is, and has done Ambrose the world of good as well. His reading of the game is second to none.

What a player! One of the best young centre-backs in Europe, hard to believe he only turned 22 in July. I hope he's here for a long, long time but if he goes I don't think Wanyama's transfer record'll be safe. A great reading of the game, aerial ability, an attacking threat... He has everything.

I agree that he's brough the best out in Efe. I always think of Efe as a senior player but he's only just turned 25. If we can hold onto them both, that'll be some partnership in a few years time.

He is outstanding. Everything you could ask for in a defender.

Big Vic went for 12 million but if this guy continues or improves on the way he has started then i think he will go for more ... quality

our defenders in recent years has been poor and everybody knew it -- with Lustig, matthews , (fisher), Virgil and Efe we are starting to look good across the back - i do rate Izzy but he is prone to lapses and probably just needs competition for a starting slot. Good teams are always built from the back , foster in goal,-- we have a decent midfield without being world class -- up front we are a bit thin but hopefully the frontline will gel and things will click for them.

a point in the Dam and a win against Milan would give us a realistic chance in the group. Virgil will play at a high level, sadly may not be with us in the future but delighted he is here.
