    None of those players were signed by Deila.

    Crystal Palace rejected the chance to sign the world's most expensive defender for just £6million.

    Speaking on talkSPORT on Thursday, Neil Warnock revealed he wanted to sign Virgil van Dijk from Celtic for a small sum in 2014 during his second spell as Eagles manager.

    But he was dissuaded from doing so by the club's chief scout, who thought the Dutchman was not quick enough to play in the English top-flight.

    Van Dijk went on to join Southampton, where he developed into one of the Premier League's most sought-after centre-backs, and will move on to Liverpool in January in a record-breaking £75million deal.

    "When I was at Palace, it was difficult to sign players," Warnock began.

    "I went after the centre-half at Celtic, Van Dijk, and they wanted £6million. I said 'we have got to buy him, don't we?'

    "The chief scout went to watch him and said 'he is not very quick, it's Scottish football'. That was before Southampton came in for him."

    I wasn't saying Ronny signed them, this was a discussion regarding Parks time at the club, and my point is that we had more good times with Parks involvement, than not.

    Armstrong, Christie, Jozo, Denayer are some of those I'd consider good spots under the Park/Della tenure.

    Roberts too, I'd say. In fact, Roberts would be the stand-out signing of the Deila era IMO.

    However, good point about Parks. Under NL in particarulr our signing policy was excellent. Yes we signed some clowns but overall: Forster, Van Dijk, Wanyama, Hooper, Ledley, Commons, Izzy, Lustig etc. proved to be excellent value for money as well as making a significant contribution to the team.

    I’ve heard everything from 10% of fee to 20% of profit. Does anyone actually know?

    No is the short answer but from what seems to be the most talked about it’s 10% straight off the £75m so £7.5m

    Wouldn't believe a word that comes out of that rotten-faced hun's mouth!

    So we're supposed to believe we were gonna sell our best player at the time to Palace for £6m, then sold him relatively soon after to Southampton for just over double that, with a 10%sell on fee?

    * off :rofl:

    I've never heard of any sell on clause being based on the selling clubs profit, that's just stupid business and we might as well have said the price is £18m. A sell-on fee is a percentage of the next fee, what they make is not our concern, in Wanyama's case we got £1.1m, 10% of £11m
