I certainly will. Players make mistakes, especially defenders. It's like Ambrose as well, he has bags of quality, just makes daft mistakes.

Van Dijk is something else. Fantastic player.

Another masterclass performance today. I am calling it here and now but before the season is out he is going to score a Paddy McCourt type goal. It is just unreal how good he is on the ball. Yet for such a "ball playing" center back he is rock solid in the air and strong in the tackle. Usually center backs who can play like him are a bit soft or weak in the air not so with Van Dijk though.

 

Coasted through the game,looks immense....

 

I would like a better tune for him

 

What a player this lad is. He is colossal, so composed and dominant for his age. He's going to be a star for us.

I sincerely hope we can hang on to him for a few years yet as he is going to be a massive success. Great find once again by Lenny and the scouting team.

 

He has always looked like a quality player, yet was somehow still slagged off after Karagandy. I don't understand our support at times.

 

I think we will be reluctant to sell as Gronigen always include a hefty sell on percentage (Robben, Bacuna, etc).

What a player though, he's going to score a few goals from corners too

Would love to see him swap positions with Mulgrew in his current position.

Think Virgil would outstanding there, he's so creative from the defence, imagine him given a bit more freedom playing in midfield?

 

I can see the argument for putting him in midfield.... but he is way too dominant in defence imo, he wins absolutely everything and we'd miss that

 

I just walked right beside the big beautiful * at the tgi Friday's on Buchanan. Was too involved with my chicken Tikka flatbread to notice at first lol. But the the big man walked past me lol

 

Why would we want to put him in midfield? He's been * excellent from the back. We've got an excellent partnership at the back just now, working both going forward and at the back. Why would we want to mess about with that?

 

We've just found, what looks to be, the best CH we've had in years and folk want to move him into midfield?

Some folk need to lay off the Football Manager....

I was one for advocating a move in future up the park like David Luiz did but after his form and partnership at the back there is no way i would move him anywhere else but centre back..

Agree way this. Although it would good to see him gerty a run or two in midfield just to what he's like

 

Van Dijk is a defender. The guy is a tremendous centre back because of his ability to read the game infront of him. Have you any idea how difficult it is to go from that to playing with your back to goal half the time, as well as getting constantly pulled towards the wings ? Van Dijk is pacey but he lacks the quick burst needed to play in the middle of the park. He has speed once he gets going rather than good acceleration.

I've heard it for years with Izaguirre, people wanting to play him on the wing despite the fact the guys two best attributes are when he is exploiting the space in front of him (which you get a lot of at full back but not on the wing) and his recovery pace.
