It's imperative for Celtic to continue to invest in young talent over the next few years. We've made a killing buying players who were either overlooked or deemed not quite ready for EPL clubs and selling them for fortunes.

We've sold a steady stream of talented players to top flight clubs in England, and the only one who 'flopped' was Gary Hooper. Wanyama, Forster, Ki and Ledley have all done well and it looks like Virgil will, too.
It makes Celtic an attractive prospect for young players looking to improve themselves and move to bigger Leagues, and it is also giving us a reputation as a pretty decent hunting ground for clubs looking to buy good footballers.

Has he? Don't get me wrong, I would be delighted for him if that's the case, but can't find anything to back this up.

Of course they are wrong. Anyone with half a brain can see he'll cut it down there.

Guess many people don't have half a brain cell.

I kept repeating myself, the only reason he looked bad in Europe and Wanyama didn't was because we didn't have as good a side has when Wanyama played. Virgil will go further than Southampton too imo.

Good luck to the big man though, left celtic on fantastic terms and I will always support players who do that.

He looks as if he is trying much much harder whilst playing for them though.

I mean, I know you have to - its a massive step up the EPL compared to the SPFL but still. He is easily giving 100% down there now and is an absolute beast. With us, probably about 60% and this affected his performances in Europe.

    Shame really.

How did he play yesterday against Chelsea? I know he should have won a stonewall penalty.

Amazing mate. He won every aerial battle. He was commanding, done his long rans, calm composed. Absolute classiness about him.

One of their fans on FB said he was the 'Rolls Royce of defenders' - perfect way to sum him up yesterday.

Cheers for the feedback lad. I can't help but feel a bit of jealousy when i look at Southampton, and the spine of their team when fully fit being Forster, VVD & Wanyama. "Our" players.

They'll go far if they can keep hold of those 3. Especially when you add the likes of Mane and Pelle to the mix.

Agree domestically but I cannot fault his effort in Europe. If anything he was trying too hard to cover for too many people in Europe.

They definitely will. Easily top 6 this season for me.

Wanyama bossed the midfield too, yesterday.

    Kills me inside. :54:

VVD will be gone in a coule of years though. No doubt about it.

I had a quick look at their forums and you can see the usual, 'he's * because he's from Scottish football' pish. They've all changed their tune now. You would think they would learn after Wanyama.

I dont think that he looked like he was trying any less when he was with us.

When you take into consideration the strops that players throw when trying to get their desired move away from a club, Virgil should be given credit as he kept his proffessionalism and played in every game amidst all the speculation.

I dont think there was a more distraught player when we were beaten against Malmo.

It also doesnt suprise me that he was so aerially dominant yesterday as he was that consistently for us
