    Doesnt really mean that much though, I imagine a lot of our players head away when we play on a Saturday and dont need to be back until Tuesday for training.

    Mind Stokes missed a flight back, got back late and got dropped by Ronny last season. And last season Johansen, Van Dijk and Bitton went to Paris for a day or two.

    As for the big man, i wish he could stay, but when you're young and talented, with EPL teams willing to drop £10m+ for you, its hard to see how we can keep a hold of him.

    It annoys me though because VVD is the standard of player we should have in our team. But how are we supposed to build a team of his standard if we're almost duty bound to sell them on? This is perhaps the quandary of buying young players - if VVD was 29/30, would he be so keen to leave, would other teams be so desperate to sign him? I'd say no. He's still be quality, which is great for us, but with less sell-on potential meaning we're a safer bet to keep him.

    I am a fan of signing young players, and sure, its a good model to buy low and sell high but if VVD, Hooper, Wanyama and Forster are anything to go by, we don't get that quality back so really its a short term gain, long-term loss. Perhaps we need to start peppering in guys in their mid-late 20s, guys who still have form to be developed or rediscovered. Not easy, but there have to be a few under appreciated gems kicking about with a point to prove.
