Would rather keep him and lose him for * all as hardly anything will be reinvested. Crooked board strike again

I'm sick of hearing about 'good business' tbh. What it is, is better for the team.

The team shouldn't exist to feed Celtic as a business, the business should be well run to progress us as a team.

Well aye but in reality when faced with either getting 11.5 million or * all which would you choose?

It's common sense not just good business :smiley-laughing002:

If 11.5 million is reinvested in the team would that not be seen as good business and progressing as a team?

Also not a lot you can do when a player wants to move on.

Its good for the team & it's good for business if the team develops through continuity
    & qualify for the CL.

I'd rather have Van Dijk for 2 years rather than £11.5m.

    That's obviously a problem:icon_mrgreen:

But if he stays & we qualify twice thats worth more to the club than 11.5 million.

There was a sell on as well I believe which probably means we get less than 10 million:31:

Talking about this yesterday before the game and if the board are going to keep weakening the team year after year it's time they stopped asking the fans to pay the same sort of premiums we were paying to watch the likes of Larsson, Sutton etc...

If we are regressing then so should season tickets etc.... if you're in business and keep trying to flog inferior products to your customers for the same or even higher prices you won't be in business too long. Celtic fans are far too patient with this board

Ultimately he had two years left on his contract, so it's just weighing up the pros and cons of forcing him to be here.

    Agree.

Will we win the SPFL without VVD....sends a cold chill if the answer is 'No'.

Will we finish in the top 2 in Europa if we sell him? Depends who we have to slot into that position, so probably 'No'. However would that loss of revenue be more than £10m-£11.5m ...'No'.

Would we get any more for VVD in January or this time next year... probably 'No'.

    So conclusion...sell him for £11.5m

We need a centre back pairing that will be here for next year to get some consistency. Much better to get rid now and get a new one in so the new guy and Boyata can have a year to adjust

Aye It depends how he would react at being forced to stay, he could be like Stones at Everton and even though he handed in a transfer request seems to acting very reasonable and playing and not speaking out in the media.

Or you could have a Tevez situation and the player throws a strop.

Even if he did want to stay.... A big 11.5 million carrot dangling in front of Peter Lawwells face is like a junkie finding an ounce of kit on the street. :smiley-laughing002:

Would be happy but surprised if we kept him til Jan, but he may have to have a good EL to justify 13m fee we're after...

There are question marks around his true value! He was poor in the games against Malmo.

If he stays I'm sure he'd prove he's worth and could be the difference between qualification in the EL and 3rd..
