Not disputing they are now established nor that they have an excellent conveyor belt of young talent.

I just think they maybe peaked last year unless they are going to pull another few signings from somewhere. Losing schneiderlein, Clyne, potentially Wanyama and Mane while also having Forster out for the forseeable makes them a weaker side imo, but you never know.

 

Southampton fans aren't confident anymore of getting him after losing tonight.

 

I'd try and offer him a new contact with the highest paid player here if he's still here after the transfer window closes and see what he does.

If he goes I don't care where he goes as long as we get a good price for him. I'd replace him with that Brugge defender who had a decent game against man utd last week.

 

I agree, worth a try. we have the wage budget and id include a release clause in the contract. either a big club release clause or minimum fee of around £15m.
Virgil signing on again would at least be one positive to take away from the week.

 

Would it have mattered as he may not have been able to play having played for us in europe.
Plus, im sure their domestic performance will benefit from exiting europe.

I blame him for two of the goals in the Malmo qualifiers, the last minute at CP he wanted to play the hero and should have let Bitton clear. The first corner in the 2nd leg if we were marking zonal it was his zone..

He is a quality player non the less but to me he played those qualifiers if he was in a big Dutch * in a knocking shop window, spend on me EPL!
