UEFA tell you what the bonus money will be before the season starts.

Tickets you can average a guess at cost per person and average crowd.

They don't tell you the TV money because that depends how many teams from your country qualify, but they tell you once its been done and the money is always the same for Celtic(as no other scottish teams ever qualify, so what we get in TV money for the EL or CL would be the exact same as it would if we go in it the next year or year after until the TV deals change again), last time we were in the EL Group Stage we got £1million for TV money and the TV money has went up this season so I roughly guessed £1.3million. (I thought it was less that £1million we got before but I seen on the STV website that they said we got €1.4million the last time - I looked on the UEFA website to see what we got but they havent released the payouts from last seasons EL or I couldnt find them)

Only reason we dont know the TV money for sure this season is because it's a new deal but we know it's going to be considerably higher since UEFA pays out % to what was paid for the right back to that country and we know BT paid a lot to outbid Sky.

The BBC have done the number crunching.

It's 13 million which doesn't account for the fact we could win every Group game (and have a full house at each of them into the bargain).

There's still millions to be made from the Europa, especially in relation to how much we earn in Scotland.

It's definitely not £13million as we know for sure that we would have got £9.8million just for winning the play off and getting into the CL then you get TV money on top of that. So if it was only £13million then they are estimating we'd only get £3.2million in TV money when we got double that before BT outbid Sky and i'd guess added possibly another 40% on top of what we used to get.

They must be using the old data from the 2012-2015 or whoever looked it up has made an * of it.

Infact it's even higher cause the value of the € has strengthened again. Had we qualified last night at current exchange rate we'd have been guarenteed €14million just for winning the play off and reaching the Group which is £10.21million currently - before TV money which I expect to probably be over £10million.

The BBC didnt take into account the increased TV money for the Champions League, they are using the old 2012-2015 figures when we know for sure its a lot more.

Its said that it went from £133million per season from Sky and ITV to £299 per season from BT, so around doubleish what it was before probably.

For example English teams used to only get ~£15million for CL TV Money, now they think it will be over £40million. So they are guessing that the UK TV money has over doubled, which means the BBC under valued the TV money by about £6million.

So, going by the numbers on the bbc (i know, i know...) if we were to win the europa league we'd come out with what? About 40M from uefa and tv rights, and * only knows what from gates and advertising... so all we need to do is win it, and problems sorted, right? :icon_mrgreen:

You're looking at the CL money there. If we won the Europa League it would be worth about £20million all in, near £50million if you add in additional merchandise sales, sponsorship bonuses and then that it probably automatically would qualify us for the CL next season.

I don't know what you guys are talking about (is this still about van Dijk?), but what if nobody comes for van Dijk or puts in a decent offer? (Still think he will go btw.) Would he still be happy here?

Don't know about you but I've taken the BBC with a HUGE grain of salt since the Referendum :smiley-laughing002:

Every source should be taken on its merits, the media in general can stuff their opinions but the BBC aren't renowned for skewing figures that you can find out yourself with a few clicks of a button. If anything the article undershoots the difference by a couple of million maximum.

Regardless, the point is if we win games in the group and go on a decent run in the competition then we will make plenty of money.

The BBC have definitely got it wrong by id guess £4-6million.

They used the market pool(tv money) from 2012-2015 but we know for sure that Sky only paid £133million per year for the CL right then, it's now thought BT are paying atleast £260million per year(Possibly £280million) they bought the CL and EL together in a combined £299million per year but the EL money is probably less than £25million So the UK Market Pool money has probably doubled. BBC say its £5.6million, so it's now probably £11million.

You are pulling unsubstantiated figures from your backside.

A couple of reporters had said the market pool was 8 on Twitter last night, I would even question it was that high.

The BBC interview that was online the other day straight after Malmo, he was talking about Celtic in the past tense on more than one occasion, he will be off alright.

Would have to be a massive turnaround somewhere for him not to

    No im not.

Most people say Sky and ITV combined paid £133million per year for the Champions League rights from 2012-2015. Then look what they say BT are paying, almost everywhere says BT have paid £300million per year but thats for CL and EL. The Europa League before was only £12million per year, so at most maybe they are paying double that so £24million, take that away from the rest and it means about £275million is for the Champions League.

UEFA said they are still using the same % of income as the TV money and so that if the money from the UK has doubled, then it doubles for what the teams get also as they pay UK teams a % of what was paid for the UK rights.
