Virgil van Dijk

It's true, Gary Hooper would have been capped by probably any country in the world due to his displays with us except probably Spain and Argentina since they have a lot of strikers and England because he is unproven in the So-called BLITW.

Germany, Holland, France, Brazil probably even Italy would have capped him, all better teams than England.

 

Loovens was the best defender in that team. :icon_mrgreen:

 

He probably was! Van Der Wiel and Van Bronckhorst are better players, but both very attacking minded full backs... Loovens was probably left on his own half the time, duno who his partner was at the back.

 

Have been very impressed with him so far. Given his youth he has a lot of upside to his game while you have to think he is still getting used to the SPFL game. I can easily see us looking at Van Dijk in a couple of seasons as one of our best players.
For me while I would rather have not had to sell Wilson we definitely upgraded at center back with Van Dijk. Only 22 as against Wilson at 27 as well so way more upside with Van Dijk.

 

Dare I say it, the best player we have. Early days, I know, but he's absolutely phenomenal. I expect him to make as much of an impact as Victor did last season, if not more.

 

He's been by far the most impressive of all the summer signings.

Composed on the ball, can win an aerial ball, actually capable of shooting from distance.

Totally agree, only wish we had Wilson to help van Dijk settle into the team and form a solid partnership. Still, there are signs that Ambrose is becoming the player he first looked like (still * myself everytime he has the ball on the deck though)

 

Alongside what we've seen of Pukki, he's the most impressive new signing in a while.

 

Mathijsen is the other defender there. Probably a good bit better than Loovens.

 

For such a young guy he's a great leader on the pitch aswell, communicates well, shouts, gives instructions etc, don't really notice it watching on TV but in the stadium you see it, really good qualities to have.

 

Aye, you'd think when players hear murmurs and complaints from the crowd if they hold onto the ball for more than 3 seconds(i.e Ambrose in games following a mistake and Samaras of 3 years ago), their confidence will be effected. The treatment Ambrose got last season and in the opening weeks of this season was a sad sight, we need to back these players to ensure their confidence isn't dented.

Thought he was a bit sloppy for most of the first half today but strolled through the rest of the match.

I thought Blanka played decently as well. I like that we don't have to worry about him. Just good, solid performances.

Oh, get over it. :smiley-laughing002: I never liked Blanka in Street Fighter and on top of that, Blanka is a female name in Slavic languages so these are probably the two main reasons why I dislike this nick. :icon_mrgreen:
