    To be a club legend, you've really got to show your commitment to the club and have spent at least 4 or 5 seasons here.

    Not looking over your shoulder for an exit after the first season or two.

    I love VVD, he's a class above, and then some, but he's not a club legend.

    Maybe he'll go on to be a legendary player in the future for Holland though. That is very likely.

    Doesn't mean he's a legend.

    If we signed Thiago Silva and he played here for a season and then left, he wouldn't be a legend. He'd still be, probably, the best centre half we've ever had. But that wouldn't make him a legend.

    Depends what you attatch to the word then really.

    Id just class it as a word that describes players who will be remembered fondly long after they're gone.

    To others it's a label put on the very few best players.

    So to you the word legend is just a meaningless label.

    "Larsson you are a legend. Petrov you are not a legend, you name has been left off the list."

    When people talk about Larsson they talk about the memories of great player. Same as they would for Petrov, so wether they're called legends or not it doesnt make any difference.

    What about Mo Johnstone? Is he a club legend? After all, the statistics point to him being a great player for us?

    If your criteria is simply how a player performed during his time with us then he's got to be on that list of yours as well? :fear:

    I totally agree. Van Dijk is top quality no question about that but for him to end up as a club legend he would need to stay at the club a whole heck of a lot longer then the 2 and a bit years he has been at Celtic so far.

    Fair enough, the reasons for him being spoken about aren't football-related, but still.

    You claim that a player should be considered a club legend if they're great on the park, and as much as I hate to say it, Mo was a top class striker during his time with us.

    Hmm, not quite pal. The exact opposite. Being a legend is a moniker that few attain.

    Why would I leave Petrov off of that list? To me he is a legend, along with Hartson, Sutton, Nakamura.
