Swansea in for him aswell apparently . If even half the teams reported to be lining up offers actually do his price will absolutely sky rocket and we will comfortably get over 10 mill. John Collins obviously doing his best to boost his price with his comments earlier this week

I don't think Norwich are much of a stepping stone, mate. It's not impossible to go from a team fighting relegation to (say) Man Utd, but it's not ideal if you are looking for the next step in your career.

I think you underestimate what we offer. Of course he has his eye on the Arsenals of this world and no one can begrudge him if he uses a team like Everton, Spurs, Southampton, etc as a stepping stone but Norwich don't really provide that.

He may be foreign, but look at Lubo's comments the other day.

If another player leaves us for Norwich we should give up, up here.

It's blatantly obvious that the idea of staying with us and strolling yet another domestic league campaign is giving him the fear, so he'll be looking to make a move this summer most likely, and he can only move to a club that actually wants him. If that's Norwich, then it's Norwich.

Much like Denayer, he's outgrown our game and our club can't really provide anything for him bar some Champions League games where we most likely fight for 3rd place and a Europa League slot.

    Linked with Swansea.

If he absolutely needs to leave us, that would be an excellent move.

Every club down there is as arrogant as the next.

If he goes then I don't really care who it's to, as long as we get a fortune for him.

He's a fantastic player and he'll shine anywhere.

I hope these media estimates of £8 million are wide of the mark.

£10 million absolute minimum and that's cheap at the price when you think Alan Hutton cost 9.

Doubt very much we'll sell one of our biggest assests for anything shy of 10, I'd be looking for close to 12..

£12 million? I think you're being a tad optimistic there!

I don't think I am. Ok he's not been outstanding in Europe like a wanyama but we are not as good a team as then either. You are paying for quality, potential, dominance in the air and brushing strikers off with ease, a ball playing centre half, who scores goals, free kicks, is quick etc etc.

The pros far outweigh the cons, which are, hasn't excelled, yet, on the big stage as much as maybe he'd of liked, can switch off through lapse of concentration and be a bit rash..

They are throwing money left right and centre at duds, why should we lower ourselves, especially when they have 'even more' money to throw about now? Our last 2 big sales in wanyama and Forster is proof enough that your not getting ripped off by paying big fees in Scotland now and we should be trusted with what we're after. Add that to the fact, his partner, is now playing for Belgium, being offered a new contract at city and being covered by top clubs in European leagues for loan moves next season. Very relevant to the quality of both..

How can it not be considered a stepping stone or an attractive offer?

Yes we are a giant club but we are a giant in a straight jacket with our face firmly against a glass ceiling, we are very limited in what we can offer and unless anything drastic happens it won't be changing any time soon.

champions league nights are magic but they are few and far between.

So say he does choose Norwich, I've already mentioned the substantial pay packer but he will be planted firmly in the shop window and playing in a league that is watched by Billions worldwide and regarded as one of the top leagues, he will also be facing far superior quality of players and having to play against world class names in a regular basis.

As opposed to here where he will face the likes of Keith Lasley and playing in half empty * stadiums with pitches that look like a bomb sites at the best of times.

So for those saying they will "lose respect" for him if he does go, then I suggest next time these folk are in buying a bottle Buckfast that they go ahead and grab a six pack of reality while they are at it.

You're right, he hasn't been outstanding in Europe. He was part of a side that shipped fourteen goals in six games when we last played in the Champions League beyond the play-offs. As such, his quality hasn't really been proven outwith Scotland, has it?

I'll be honest, "brushing off" strikers is all well & good, but when those strikers are John Sutton, Nial McGinn & Paul McGowan I don't know if EPL sides are going to put too much stock into it.

He's an unproven commodity at the highest level, which is where he'll be playing if he heads down south.

Both Wanyama and Forster were different propositions. First of all, how many midfielders of Wanyama's type were doing the rounds on the open market when we sold him? Guys like him are harder to find than ballplaying central defenders I reckon.

Big Fraser was a highly rated goalkeeper, having done the business in Europe against top sides, and he was English, which means a lot down south.

I reckon we'll get maybe £8-£9 million for Van Dijk in the current market.

    Epic!!! :56:

I'm not saying that 12 should be his value now I'm just saying that they will pay it imo

I would go down the add ons and percentage of next transfer fee route. He will do well down there and by doing that we could bank 20 million all in over the next few years.
