Everyone expected the recession to catch English football, but it still went forward.

The only way it'll start regressing is if they fail all too often in Europe and the confidence weakens.

The money sky pumps in is just madness. Nobody else would if they pulled out. Prices would be a fraction of what they've been inflated to.

John Collins has hailed Celtic centre-back Virgil van Dijk as 'the best defender in Europe' and believes that the Dutchman will stay with the Scottish champions.
The 23-year-old defender is attracting interest from a host of clubs and is currently being linked with a Premier League move to either Arsenal or Everton.
Celtic's assistant manager admits that he is not surprised by the rumours and believes that the Dutchman is one of the best on the continent.
"I believe there is currently no better centre-half in Europe than Virgil. I watch Champions League football and Premier League football every week and Virgil is as good as anybody who is playing football in Europe," he told the Daily Record.
"Virgil can play for any team so the important thing is he doesn't think he has to jump ship quick and take the first offer. He has to believe in his ability and he can play for a top European club.
"He's at a great club just now and if he keeps working hard then I've no doubt that one day he'll be at a top Champions League club – I'm talking about one of the mega names in Europe."
Collins also believes that Van Dijk will stay with the Scottish champions until the second qualifying round of the Champions League.

Ha ha nice one JC, not a mention of the fact he only has two years left on his contract and we pretty much have to sell. :smiley-laughing002:

Pleased to see the management team getting on board with the effort to raise his transfer fee because it makes me think they must have been promised some decent percentage to invest in players.

If he decides to go to Norwich it's not like he isn't going there to see out the rest of his career, is he?

He will see Norwich like a stepping stone like the same way he sees us.

    No its really not.

He is a foreign player so you really need to detach the Celtic fan in you when talking about it.

I see the bubble bursting with the advances of the internet. Give it ten years, who will even have sky? Near everyone I know just uses android boxes or they knock off sky box's.

Capitalism is unsustainable in a finite world. It's in its death throes. I think the change will come from outside football.

It baffles me that players don't fall in love with the club. Pick someone on the street and take them to a European night at Paradise and Celtic will get under their skin. Surely playing in it has to be even more special, no? I know it's true of some players - Mikael, Emilio, Kris...

You are talking about a few games a season and even then CL football is not guaranteed. You can't get away from the fact that we play in Scotland and all that brings. A few seasons at us is the most I'd expect from any foreigner who came to us - great if more, understandable if not especially with players that clearly have a lot of potential and the ambition to match.

The only way is see the epl bubble bursting is a complete global financial disaster or Internet things like xbmc getting to a quality that is indistinguishable from switching over from sky sports HD

If no one has sky then sky would go bankrupt and all those boxes would not have the cheap sky to watch.:smiley-laughing002:

There will always need to be a balance.
But fans cant keep paying increase after increase and one day the epl will implode.

Norwich have Steven Whittaker at RB, Bassong at CB and Javier Garrido at LB VVD would instantly become there best defender

If anything it's the opposite, the more money that get's pumped in the more unsustainable it is, it will reach a peak then fall flat on it's face.

I think that'd be the case if he joined any club outside of the Manchester clubs, Arsenal and Chelsea.

All it would take is some sponsors to pull out, look at the FIFA corruption, when that comes tumbling down the sponsors will pull out and you'll find UEFA are just as corrupt.

Exactly. Fair play to them, they've now turned the EPL into what is perceived as the best sports product on the planet.

    Bubble will never burst.

Meanwhile the folk in charge of our game shamelessly talked down the product to every media outlet and potential sponsors in an attempt to save the Huns.

Every sponsor and media outlet only seem interested in the 'Old Firm', even though their tribute act will be deed very shortly anyway.
Celtic need to just to pull out of the current tv deal and get our own. Pedro was the one that negotiated our current deal since the SPFL and SFA are * useless.
