Virgil van Dijk

I don't have an issue with van dijk wanting to leave, but he should be only saying it to the club privately. I don't like that he's making it so public.

 

One thing for sure tho is that VVD won't go into Sterling sulk mode he will try his best to get us into the CL then we can pocket the 10-12 million for him

It sounds clear as day that he is trying to push a move before the qualifiers. He is not the first and won't be the last but continually going public should result in fines, that would nip it if you started taking fortnightly wages for * with big mouths..

 

He wants more pressure ? wheres he going to get that not at sunderland or clubs of that ilk hes been a great player for us but he should keep his head down, mouth shut, get us into the group stages and then he can get his move ... sadly

 

Is it just me or is everybody else getting less attached to players these days? I suppose we can still have players like Brown, Lustig and Johansen that realise just how big a club they play for even though they could play in the Premier League no problem at all. Players like Van Dijk, Wanyama and Forster will always come and go and do us a turn in the process but I no longer get attached like I used to. Cashing in on one of our stars each season is good business for everyone I think and we will still progress in the meantime.

 

Addidng Forster in is a bit harsh there, he was here for 4 years.

 

12 - 15 million and accept no less as there is very few young centre backs out there who are in the same play style as Virgil. When I look at the centre backs in the EPL there is very few I would rate higher than him and even less with his attributes.

Like everyone else I want him here for the qaulifiers , but if the right offer comes in then I believe the club will sell and he knows it and that's why hes flapping his lips.

 

Don't mind tbh hopefully start a bidding war, there's enough Dutch coaches at big clubs to take notice too.

 

In theory we should get through the qualifiers with or without him, he will 100% be going this window though, he's done an excellent job somewhere and will end up at a top club in the future I'm sure

 

And he gave it his all for us as did the others but he was never gonna stay here forever we were a stepping stone for him which is fine. He did always have one eye looking south and never denied the fact thats where he wanted to end up.

 

I agree but 4 years is good for a modern footballer, similar to the sorta time Chris Sutton spent in the Hoops.

Don't think VVD is quite the accomplished player that he and others think he is.
Maybe I am being over critical, he has most of the attributes of a very good player and has been a huge success with Celtic, but I've always been wary of his tackling when a nippy player runs at him. Might be the reason he's not getting a look-in with the Dutch squad.

 

I hope you aren't actually being serious with that statement? There's no chance we'd put one of our most valuable commodities in the stand for a season! That would only serve to reduce his value!

Losing him for half the value or less pales in significance to not qualifying for the champions league another season.

 

He said he's determined to leave us so he can push for a spot in the Netherlands team... Would Danny Wilson be too bad a signing? I'd happily take him now purely for cover... Him and boyata would be a fairly strong partnership

 

I'd let him sit on his * in the stands for 2 more years. We all know he's going to leave stop being so unprofessional.
