Virgil van Dijk

Southampton would be a good move for him. Assuming the Belgiam lad from Atletico whose name I can't spell returns to Madrid, they'll have Yoshida and Fonte as first-choice defenders. They're good, but I think Virgil is better.

It's a step into a bigger League where he'll get first-team football, without the pressure of a big club.

 

So he'll stay for the qualifiers and then, if we make the groups, he'll have a decision to make - stay here for more development or move to a mid table EPL team.

I expect the latter, for 10m plus and will wish him well.

He had teh shut out recored last year and this year it's the lowest goals conceded for a gazillion years.

Like JK said, it's really time he moved on to learn more in a more difficult league.

Hopefully other talented players will see what we have done with him and be encouraged to come here.

 

Honestly I think he will leave regardless of how we do in the qualifiers. He made it very clear in the Summer he wanted to leave and for a week or so after the window he acted like a bit of a brat and was give time off to sort his head out.

Apparently on Southampton fans sites saying their reps are in Scotland to try and get him signed.

 

If he leaves to go to England, Southampton are the team I'd like to see him at.

 

I mean, I'd have no qualms with him going there. They have done excellent and develop talent and will pay well its just - we look like their * feeder club: Forster, Wanyama and then Van Dijk.

Not to mention the likes of: Boruc, Hooiveld and Fox beforehand. :smiley-laughing002:

Funny how well Southampton have done with ex Celts in their team - yet the rest of the EPL will tell us we are * and our players aren't worth it.

Man Utd and Arsenal are screaming out for a Wanyama and a Van Dijk right now. Neither are humble enough to pay us a fair price for them though. Their loss and Southamptons gain.

I sometimes wish we'd sign these guys on an initial 4 and a half year contract instead of 4 years, it would make such a difference.

 

Maybe we can play Lustig and Chico at centre half for qualifiers then? They will definitely be reliable enough. In the meantime, search for VanDijk/Denayer mark 2

 

Time we started playing proper hard ball with these *. Would want at least £15m for him.

 

If he is sold before the qualifiers I think Ronny should get every penny to reinvest.
If we get 10M I want to see Ronny get the whole amount because otherwise we jeopardise qualifying for the CL and then there will be serious questions asked of the board.

 

The bolded quote is a big problem for us. First he should not be sold before these games unless his transfer fee is equal to or greater than what the CL money is. Second it should not even be debated that every penny should be reinvested, it should be everypenny and then some.

 

If only there was a chance of that happening.
