why have you quoted me here as if i have in someway contradicted myself ?My point was clear throughout - he does want to move , and the primary reason for that will be to treble his wages , which , imo does not make him a " money grabber " it just makes him a fairly normal person . People are far too quick to criticise players for moving for bigger wages , but over a couple of contracts the difference between 20 k a week and 60k a week can run into the tens of millions which can set a family up for generations. I agree he will want to move to better his career aswell but i guarantee you if the most the EPL offered him was 60k and we offered 80 , he would stay here. The main reason players move away from Celtic is for more money. Its a short career and they need to make hay while the sun's out .

Looks like he will be a goner although hope we hold out for more than 8 million.

I'd like to think we can get 12 million with the amount of teams interested in him!

Think we will be away regardless of CL qualification. As above, hopefully for more than the £8m quoted, although I don't know what we can reasonably expect.

I would really hope that our club can hold out for more than 8 million I would be incredibly disappointed if he went for that, he has not only bags of talent but bags of potential and the amount teams pay for players down south is ridiculous, its my belief that if we play hardball we could get between 12-15 mill for him and in all honesty we are going to need as much as possible to re-invest in the squad.

what makes you "expect" this? Id say there is far more chance he will join Southampton, given that Alderweireld is returning to Madrid, Koeman is a countryman of Van Djik and may already personally know him and Southampton will finish above Everton and may gain European qualification. Signing Mcgeady would be a huge backwards step for us and he would demand too much in wages. Personally id prefer we stick by James Forrest and forget about Mcgeady

I didn't say I expect it to happen I said in non media rumours a few boys at fives were talking about it and asked if anyone had heard about it!

Everton have only 2 CB come summer on books with distin and Alcaraz being released!

Stick by Forrest, I would stick that * out to pasture along with the rest of dead wood offers nothing 1 decent game then out for 4! Get rid of him in summer! A would rather have straight cash myself but we ain't Ronny and he maybe wants mcgeady back I don't know it is pure speculation!

As for the countryman thing that's bullshit in football! If Everton offer £50k a week and Southampton £40k he ain't gonnae go there cause koeman is there he could get sack so that counts for nothing.

Managers influence playeds, for a Dutch centre half to get the chance to play under one of the greatest ever Dutch defenders is a big thing I would imagine.

I reckon playing for Koeman would have a huge influence but also if they get into Europe it would make it more likely.

Southampton would be a great move for him. Just as it has been for Forster and Wanyama.

I don't know if it was you that posted it, im referring to the post on this page that begins "I fully expect.." That's your opinion, I feel similarly regarding Mcgeady at this stage of his career. Granted, he was dynamite on his day. But he would demand big wages and I think the direction we are going in is a new, youthful one. I disagree with you on the nationalities. Look at the Dutch influence on Louis Van Gaals Barcelona team. Wengers French influence on Arsenal. Managers of the same country may have more knowledge on players from scouts, contacts etc. And you have disregarded my point, which is Southampton may qualify for Europe, and Everton might not, adding more appeal to Southampton. 50k at Everton or 40k at a champions league team. I know who id pick.

    He is an incredible talent.

If he goes, it will be with a heavy heart but he has undoubtedly earned any "big" move.

Dunno, he looked helluva embarrassed when he was being spoken about by Broony and that reporter.

Didn't give Rooney a sniff today.

The big man is the best centre half I've ever seen for Celtic.
