He's off in the summer, no doubt about it . The player wants to leave , and the club will want to cash in .

The reality is that we as a club cannot compete with the riches of the EPL, ambitious players will want to test themselves against a better calibre of opposition on a weekly basis, and at the same time maxamise their earning potential.

Can see him at Southampton. I agree with above, we should have no issue breaking our wage structure to keep him if that's what it takes. Gives him another chance to showcase himself in the CL as well which could land him somewhere better than a mid-table premiership outfit.

For me he is saying the right things " Celtic are a huge club, honour to play, no rush to leave but let's see what the summer brings" and playing really well too.

If a decent EPL club pays top dollar for him, he will go with my best wishes.

It's simply what happens at our level. RD kept him here last year but we can't hold onto them much longer if they wan't a move. Fair all round imo.

Have loved having the big guy here and hopefully we can stretch it for one more season.

Him and Denayer in the CL groups? Yes please.

I like what he is saying as well, though it's concerning that he seems to have changed his tune so quickly.

Not so long ago he was in a big huff. Maybe he has been bought into what RD is trying to achieve here?

I still reckon' that if we qualify for the champions league he will sign an extension and stay on, at least till January. Which I'd be ecstatic about to be perfectly honest. We are a much poorer side without him....and Denayer actually.

IMO its not about the money we can offer these guys, its where we are playing our football.
Most of them will come here with only one thing in mind and that's finding a epl club to play for after 3 years winning stuff with us.

Some of them don't even play a game for us before shouting about a move to the epl.
Some of them throw out love bombs to holland while sitting in the celtic park changing rooms.
Some of them come and play and are honest enough to say ill be here for a season then moving on after my loan.
We have to accept the player hold all the power and we just have to make the best out of each situation.

VVD is for the off, think we all know that at heart as he is talked about every * window by the press.
If we could hold onto denayer for one more season then great sell vvd now and get a replacement in.
But with denayer going in the summer to his new loan club i think we should keep vvd for another season and just take the hit on what ever money we lose.
two defenders and a striker going in the same window is going to hit us hard and ronny will do well to replace even two of them.

Guy is absolutely itching to get to the EPL and earn some big bucks . It was an accepted fact among our support ( and still should be ) .

Money . That's what he wants , so of course he will happily sign for a Sunderland if they pay him 50 or 60 grand a week . Cant blame these players either , they get two good contracts in a short career and need to maximise their earnings. With the right deals they can secure their families future for generations. Why would anyone ( excluding boyhood Celtic fans) play here for 20 grand a week when they can go and treble it down south ? A four year deal at 60k a week is £12m , 6-7 after tax. A four year deal at 20k a week is £4m , 2 after tax . You are talking about millions of pounds here.

On his change of attitude, I think that's all it is - if that makes sense.

Although I think he will definitely have bought into RD enough, I'm not sure it would be enopugh to do a u-turn.

Different players will have different ambition. VVD wanting to play for a "bigger" EPL club shouldn't be held against him.

But we shouldn't have to have it forced down our throats by the players themselves a la Guidetti. While he's here he should be respectful and glad to have been signed for a club like us.

That's all he's doing now I think, just showing respect that he probably never did last year. What with him going through a few personal struggles also, and him mentioning recently he "wanted to be a better footballer and person" I reckon he has just learned that being a bit more humble and respectful is the right thing to do.

I still think he would choose to move in the summer if the scenario was right for him. I don't have any problem with that as it's his right and, after all, RD has made it clear that any deal must suit all parties, not just the player

I've got no problem with any of the above and would wish the guy well.

Nothing from his behaviour suggests a money grabber, I just think he wants to play at a higher level than the SPL.

Spot on that second paragraph. Wage structure has probably done us out of keeping the odd player for another player or two.

Seen he said something about the cl regarding winning the league thats the kind of stuff id prefer to be hearing than transfer links.

This, which is perfectly ok. He has been a really good player for us, and if he could help us qualify for the Champions League next season I would wish him all the best if he decides to go.

I'd be happy for him too. Don't think its about money, think he just wants to play at the highest possible level and he knows staying in Scotland he won't achieve that. The boy wants to play for his national team as well and the Dutch don't rate our League so he's always going to be over looked. Don't blame him for wanting to better himself

What behaviours do " money grabbers " normally exhibit ?

As i have said before he will want to go and treble his wages in the EPL/La Liga , which is completely reasonable and doesn't make him a "money grabber " . If i could treble my wages laying bricks for a different firm i know i would.

Nor has he hid that he wants to play in the Champions League and we can * offer that ya clown!! I don't think we should resign ourselves immediately to losing our best players. Unless an insane offer comes in, break the * bank to keep him, he's too good not to!!

Why you acting as if im the stupid one? :smiley-laughing002:

    You said

You might not have portrayed your opinion too clearly, however from that statement, I would think you believe his primary objective for moving is to get more money. Not infact, to better his career, first and foremost.

Money grabbers are players who stall contract extension talks, always in the paper talking about lucrative offers they have elsewhere etc....
