That was his last European Celtic game. Shame really. Hopefully Lawell gets 5-7 million for him.

Well aren't you a clever little boy, now do you want to try answering the question using you big boy words. You can do it try getting some paper and your crayons and write a few ideas down...remember we're talking about football.

His second yellow was a bit naive but at the end of the day there is no way he should have been sent off. That first yellow was a good tackle.

So gutted my man let me down over the 2 games.

Expected him to stamp his authority in these games and show what a player he is.

    Big let down Virgil.

Na, what you wrote was indeed *.

Most teams in Europe will play a lone striker, it's simply the fact that we're being pressed far more often, against higher quality opposition. It's been the same for many of our previous defensive partnerships, example Kelvin Wilson would do the more rugged defensive work in the league whilst Mulgrew would sit deeper as a ball playing center half. It didn't mean Mulgrew was being found out in european games, it just meant he had to share more defensive responsibility.

    I can't believe you're going on like he's never marked a player before :smiley-laughing002:

and I'm yet to see someone say Virgil's too good for our league, just more * stirring from you I presume. Anyone saying that is probably pointing to the obvious realization that he does his job well and often has time on the ball

I don't think he will get a move to a decent team tbh, will be a team who will get relegated.

Think there's a bit of a chance now he'll stay next season. This squad plus 2-3 good signings in the summer and we could do something decent in the CL.

As a big van djik fan, i was really disappointed at the fact that after his first (and very soft) yellow card, he decided to lose his positional sense against Icardi and allow himself to get turned and then bundling him over. It seemed like a moment of naive defending for someone who displays such class and composure on a weekly basis. I think he is too comfortable playing in the scottish league. Maybe at times he has been caught offguard by the jump in speed and ability in the european stage. Iv still got no doubt he is of european quality though.

Tbh, he did hit the guy on the shin, I don't think it was deliberate though as players were flying in all over the place.

I can see why the ref sent him off.

I hope we appeal if we can, as would like the big man to be in the final.

Ive watched it a few times and I dont think ita a sending off. Thompson made a hash of the whole incident, don't think he had a clue what happened.

I can see why too, but I don't think it was deliberate. Looks like he was trying to get up. Don't think we'll get anywhere with an appeal though. Does anyone know for sure if it's a one or two match ban?

    Get up?

He does nothing wrong when the legs are tangled, I'm sure he's been sent off for the actual tackle.
