Also if that was Ambrose he would be executed by the fans by now

 

A didn't think the ref was going to give him that second yellow unit Icardi started waving his hands ordering the ref to give him the yellow. Ref should man up and go on his own instinct * black smelly *

 

Virgil was naive tonight. Sitting on a yellow already, an experienced player should not be giving the ref a chance to send him off. This ultimately cost us the tie

 

The problem is he is not experienced in Europe, plus he was poor last year in the champions league. I haven't seen to much improvement with him at the top level

 

Ref was a * but to give him the option by diving into two silly challenges shows why i said (and may i add got slated for) he wasn't as good of player as most of you where saying. And theres another big game where he has been sub standard

 

Give me a fast Majstorovic now that would be quality.

 

If we get 5 mill for him we are lucky.

I think Virgil is a much better player than he has showed over the two games with Inter but its hard to disagree with this.

 

Better defenders than Virgil have been sent off in bigger games. Give the guy a break at least he was undeserving of the red.

 

SPL is Virgil's level.

You just knew once he got the first yellow that he woulnd't make it through the game with how Icardi/Palacio were always on the shoulder. Griffiths should look to mirror how they both played over the two legs. Every through ball looked like it could be lethal.

 

Virgil is a class act but didn't show it tonight, he was incredibly unlucky with the first yellow but after that he showed very poor awareness as Denayer would have covered him for the second.

We will find it very hard to replace him.

 

Agree with this. Been disappointed by his european performances so far. Expected a lot more from him.

 

Spot on!!! he deserves all the criticism. VVD should know better than that and not give the ref the chance to send him off.

One thing I will say though is the ref was awful and for me neither foul deserved a booking , sending a player off for 2 soft fouls is a bit SNIFF!!!!!

 

I think Virgil is our best player , but van gaal may be right he hasn't backed it up when it mattered.

 

Put VVD in the development squad and sell or get rid of for free in the summer. We need a scapegoat for tonight. Worst player ever to don a Celtic jersey

 

I don't think anyone has said that, but his performances in Europe have generally been quite poor. I would hate to see our goals against record in the CL with VVD at the heart of our defence.

Reminds me of Boumsong in some ways - athletic enough to get away with playing almost effortlessly in the SPL, but lacks the concentration and urgency to make it to the top.

 

Very inconsistent in Europe and proved again that he isn't good enough for a big European team.

They were never yellow cards but he was extremely naive.

 

He can't think that he could play at the next level and put in a performance like that. Cost us the game.
