I have absolutely no doubts he will be a total success at wherever he ends up when he leaves us. I'm grateful that he has given his all this year after apparently wanting out last summer. The best centre half I've ever seen play for Celtic.

Is it just me or do any of you see that Virgil has genuine respect for Denayer's ability. He treats him sort of like an apprentice but he knows Denayer has buckets of ability to go far in the game.

Conversely, whenever he plays with Ambrose his demeanour is totally contrasting. He seems to be throwing his eyes up to heaven a lot and things like that.

    Just me ? :54::smiley-laughing002:

100%, the big man looks distraught sometimes with some of the decisions Efe makes. :smiley-laughing002:

No its really like that, under Neil and also under Ronny he was like a moaning contraprodictive type of player on the pitch when played with ambrose but with Denayer on it he looks more like a leader in the defense that communicates productivly with his teammates.

Efe forgetting his passport for a European trip one time pretty much sums the guy up to be fair. Decent footballing ability, but not a brain cell to his name.

Then when you throw in how well Biton has complimented Brown in front of them and that is one very solid spine to our team right now.

With the new TV deal in the EPL, when the time comes to sell Virgil we should be holding out for upwards of £20m. I am being deadly serious as well, one of the best young defenders in the country.

With the amount of money that league has, we'd be underselling ourselves not to.

    No I agree.

That's probably down to the fact Ambrose is a * nutjob defensively alot of the time.

I've noticed that going through old videos of games on youtube, on that SPFL channel(quite good) that even last season when we went on that clean sheet run, any chances that we did give away were alot of the time down to poor marking, lack of concentration from Ambrose. He can be incredibly dodgy from cross balls especially.

It continued into this season as well when Denayer is out the side.

He's not daft, you can tell when he plays with Denayer he has complete trust in him. When he plays with Ambrose all he does is let him cover in behind.

He knows what players around him can and can't do.

Yeah I know that but what I'm saying is it's actually physically evident.. You can see it in his body language quite clearly. He gets in a bit of a huff with a 'I can't believe I've to play beside this absolute nugget again' look about him whenever he plays alongside Ambrose.

He's a much better player when he's beside Denayer because hes not looking over his shoulder every 2 minutes to make sure he's not tripping over his laces.

    And who's to blame him?

I'm honestly in two minds about who is better out of the two (Virgil & Denayer). I think there's absolutely no doubt that when Denayer is Virgil's age, he will be better than Virgil is now, but I don't think there us much difference between them ability wise. Virgil reads the game unbelievably well, one of the best I've seen at it at Parkhead. But Denayer doesn't wander up the pitch like Virgil does. Does the basics right and is unbeleivably comfortable on the ball.

It's Virgil's ego that lets him down. See if he didn't think he was a no.10 and try stepovers outside the box and so on, he'd be so much better off for it.

    I'm not blaming him anyway.

There's 'absolutely no doubt' Denayer will be better than Virgil is now in 4 years? Strange statement that. I'd say Jason would be delighted if he's just as good as Virgil is now by that time.

I don't think there's any doubt that Virgil is better than Denayer. That's not a slight on Denayer by the way, that's just how highly I rate Virgil. I think Denayer is a great player and I think Deila was justified in saying he's already a £10m centre half.

He could very well go on to be better than Virgil, but you can't say there's 'absolutely no doubt' he will.

I said it before on here.. We'll look back in a few years time and think "* me.. I can't believe we had Van Dijk and Denayer as our centre halves in 2015"

Denayer for me is a long way off Van Dijk. No doubt Denayer has quality and great potential but van dijk currently has it all. Reads the game, dominates every centre forward large or quick and has the footballing ability of a central midfielder. Add in to that he will score you goals from corners and freekicks we should be asking for at least 20m in the summer, especially if Denayer is already considered a 10m defender.

How is it "strange"? Fs, do you just sit on here and attempt to educate everyone on football?

Denayer isn't that far off Van Dijk's level. And because he's only 19, it'd be fair to suggest that he could surpass Van Dijk.

Strolls Scottish matches but in Europe.... Doesn't look as great. Has got caught out by a bit of good movement a few times now.

Thought denayer was better than him last night.
