I'd only be satisfied if we got over £12m for him. I'd love for him to commit his future to us though.

 

How times change.

In MON days you wouldn't have heard fans say sell at that price. Eg you wouldn't say southamption need to offer 20m if they want larrson. We just didn't want to lose our top players. I was devastated when petrov was sold. Although he done us a favour by signing a contract extension and getting us a bigger Fee. It just wasn't the thing back then for Celtic to sell a first team regular.

But im not naive and realise that we lost alot of money and to run a good ship we need to sell at times. The thing is these players that leave the waynama or the possible VVD,are we really gonna replace them with a quality player. We never done that last season with hooper. I think its the reason lennon left. Hes aware we've to sell because if a player gets a bid the club feel is too good to turn down then he's away. Think everybody accepts this but if we sell a vital component of the team such as hooper should we not try to replace him with proven quality. We have other areas to bring youth and projects along but not vital players that are pivotal to the managers plans.

Anyway the point im making is the fans are too quick to get VVD out the door for x amount of million. But who's to replace him? Is it because its good value or the balance sheet looks healthier. Should we not be signing that 2m project now. Let him settle in before possibly selling VVD at the end of the season. His contract still has 3 years so his value should still be at a premiem.

 

15 million and i'd be satisfied going to be very difficult to find a replacement anywere near Virgil's class I thought we'd miss Wilson then Virgil took his place replacing Virgil however will not be as easy

 

I think he is the best centre half we have had in my liftime of 23 years.

 

There's an Irish joker on BBC Sport Scotland who was saying he wasn't convinced that VVD was ready for the EPL, that would be the EPL that has had such superstars as Gary & Stephen Caldwell, Titus Bramble and Savic.

At least if the twit said top 4 or such (which I think he could still be in contention) then fair enough, but wrote him off the whole EPL.

 

The best CB we've had at the club for years now I don't think we should sell. He's still very young, has 3 years on his contract and I doubt we've got a replacement lined up right now. He's been solid and was class again in the two KR games.. I Just hope the board's eyes don't light up at the sight of a few million

 

I'll say what i have done for 8-odd months now; he is worth more as a player than Wanyama, and especially so to us bearing in mind our CB struggles for a long time now.

If Wanyama was a 12 million player in today's terms, then we are speaking in advance of that for VVD or they can get to *. I'd rather keep him.

However, that is the fan speaking, not the financier.

£12 -15m is what we should be getting for him, though if we sell him and Forster this window then I don't really know what the * we're playing at anymore. I'm a supporter of this system, buy cheap, sell big, it works and we need it to survive in Scotland and compete in Europe. But its also supposed to be a strategy to help the club grow, we can't progress if we constantly sell our two best players every season and then don't up the anti of who we're bringing in.

VVD looks like a great player, done fantastic for us last season in our league, but he has not done it in Europe just yet if he gets the chance, anyone who can say he is better than Wanyama are just being silly, since big Vic done it in Europe.

Some fans are getting carried away with selfs here with him, yes if we sell him he would be a big loss but we could go out and look at the Dutch league again and replace him.

That's if the board gave the manager the money to do that, this is the route the club is going to take I just want to see the money being re-invested.

Virgil is bigger than sunderland and he knows it, he could easily get in the first team of teams like spurs or everton imo.
