3 back-up CBs for the Netherlands Kongolo,Veltman, Rekik all younger than Van Dijk (1 cap between them)

In total they have played only 2 games more than Van Djik.

None of them starters for their teams. Veltman came off the bench against us at CP for Ajax.

 

The reality is our league isn't taking seriously.

Van Dijk would be better moving to the best league in the world, The BARCLAYS Premier League in the summer, to improve his international chances.

 

Not really that much of a shock he has never had a cap before so was always a big ask for him to get into the squad.

 

A can't believe that. I'll be cheering on everyone against the Dutch apart from the English.

Where is Bruma and Pieters??....their are a lot of good dutch defenders left out here...

As soon his name popped up in the media about his chances about being selected and more and more people talking about Virgil should be given a chance the less chance he had being selected. Shows that not a lot of people on here really know Van Gaal that well.

It's been rumoured that Van Gaal will go for a 5-3-2 formation.

Edit: At least that was the formation they were training for according to Veltman.

 

It's probably a good thing he's not going, less chance of another team seeing how good he is.

 

He has plenty of World Cup tournaments to look forward to going to . It's exceptionally difficult for players playing in a foreign league that has a lower rating to be picked .
Forster is an exception .

 

Probably drop the Depay and play Kongolo or Veltman at the back too then.

Maybe with 5 at the back he will have Sneijder and Van der Vaart play ahead of De Jong?

Apparently we would struggle in League One according some * on twitter!!

Here was me thinking players were selected on ability. Granted I haven't seen much of Dutch Football outside of Ajax. However I have seen plenty of Ron Vlaar and yet Van Gaal thinks he's a better option than Van Dijik!!!

I like Van Gaal but * Ron Vlaar couldn't tackle a fish supper, so pedestrian with and without the ball. Just a physical presence and nothing else.

 

Hes a Dutch Caldwell. At least he never picked Heitinga though, could have had Van Dijk sitting in the house watching those two dumb and dumber at the back.

I am amazed Virgil's not gone. He's a Rolls Royce player. Vlaar is nowhere near as good a footballer as he is.

However, it might be good for us - teams perhaps less likely to come in for him in the Summer, we might get to keep him another year or two, fingers crossed...

 

He's keeping him out of the limelight so he can sign him on the cheap when he goes back to manage club football.

 

A name I'm missing too is V/D Wiel and maybe even Douglas...instead he picked a whole bunch of inexperienced "kids" who rather go to the McDonalds for a * happy meal while travelling to the stadium.
