That's what was reported at the time. He may be upto about 16k now but he's nowhere near Ledley and Broony who earn a lot more than most.

I doubt its just me but vic's agent has really piseed me off with his stupid comments, for the record
I love the big man been a really good player for us. For his agent to be coming out with no pay rise in two seasons n he's gave a great service to the club is balls, he is doing his job takes more than pretty much a season n a half to justify a great service. Celtic dont owe wanyama if anything he owes us I cant remember it being a battle to sign him.plus signed as a cb n turned him into a beast of a centre mid who got to show his quality in the best comp in club football. Plus missed cup final coz suspension, sent off in cl qualifying last season, sent off @ the bigotdome. Dont get me wrong alot more good points than bad, like I said am a fan of vic and I know its just his agent making the comments but no player bigger than the club n every week potential 14 players can play to help us win not just vic by himself like his agent might think.

Surely Samaras isn't only on £15k p/w. When he was at city I reckon he would have been on £40k p/w so to come here and be on £15k is strange.

Is Brown not on £25k a week, surely not ? If Samaras is only on £15k.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I knew he took a wage cut to come here, but I would be surprised if he was on less than 15k when we signed him. And his new contract would have seen that improve I think. I would be very surprised if he was on less than 20k. Man City paid £6million for him, so he must have been on very good money at them.

He took a bug cut to join us. City weren't paying that kinda money back then either

    I like Neil Lennon...

    Celtic Football Club ‏@celticfc 14m
Neil Lennon speaking to media on Victor Wanyama situation: "Lot of talk. We accepted a bid from Southampton, done nothing wrong."

    Celtic Football Club ‏@celticfc 14m
NL: "Ball firmly in his representatives court. Unhappy, as we dealt with it as professionally as possible."

    Celtic Football Club ‏@celticfc 14m
NL: "All we did was accept a bid from Southampton, a very good, progressive club."

    Celtic Football Club ‏@celticfc 14m
NL: "But there seems to be other parties wanting to block the deal."

    Celtic Football Club ‏@celticfc 13m
NL: "We felt the money was right for us, a good business deal for the club. Whether it resurfaces again, I don't know."

    Celtic Football Club ‏@celticfc 13m
NL: "The fact we accepted a bid tells you we felt it matched our valuation of the player. Don't know where we are with it at minute."

Just had a look, he was on 22k p/w at City and went down to 15k p/w to join us. But that was his first deal. His new contract must have seen that rise, maybe not to 25k but must be about the 20k mark surely.

No, youse were right lads he is only on about £15k-£17k a week.

Just googled it and it said in an old Guardian article he was on £22k a week at City and took a 25% pay cut to join Celtic (rather than go to another premiership side).

Some of the things I've read on here lately and not just from 1 poster but a few in the space of a couple of days is staggering...

I can't honestly believe this is from Celtic fans...

Hooper to Celtic was a step down
Watt isn't a workhorse and is lazy, drinks and shags loads
Our champions league draw was easy and nobody could be bothered to try a leg against us
Wanyama is one injury away from mediocrity and is just a black so and so and not worth the big money...

Forums are for opinions but these are past ridiculous

Just a few of many, from clueless people...

They never come out in the middle of the season. Suddenly folk who've barely uttered a word all year flock to this forum for silly season. Don't know what they want the club to do; buy a duff player each day to give them something else to talk about?

Some players just want to play football and win stuff......some are all about the money.
Samaras came to us...loved it and stayed for first team action instead of bench warming.

He's also knocked back several teams offering more money.

Sammy's turned into a complete Tim, loves it here. I wish more players showed his loyalty.

Seems odd that he was castigated by many on here, myself included, for not moving on when he had the chance.

Hindsight is 20/20, and I'm sure he glad he decided to stay.

It's amazing it used to be the big clubs in England that used to question players coming to Scotland, now it's right across the board down here and every other no mark team from the lower leagues like scunthorpes, derby,Cardiff and any other little club we've taken players from has something to say!

It's hard to say you get used to it as its still as annoying as ever but it's just one of them things that's always going to be there now!
