When that sort of money is involved he's definitely going. £12 million+ will help the club for years to come.

A season or two more of the kind of performances he put in at the very top level last year, the Champions League (higher than Liverpool have been used to for a while now) and he could have become a Celtic legend. 12.5million is a good return on a 900k signing but he really should be doing better than Southampton.

if im being honest i think larsson will be the last celtic legend we ever see, to hold on to a guy that class for so long was remarkable, but to be honest he could have left and chose to stay with us so you never no, no one in our squad just now is legend class imo, now a days the players use us for a quick buck or stepping stone, and that suits us

its true but with that policy the only player who will stay with us for there full career is a die hard celtic fan, and there is not many of them who have what it takes to be legends but i hope im wrong

The problem with these legends is that they stay till they are 32/33 on big contracts and then leave for free. Our current system may not have the same romance to it, but I prefer it.

you would rather less commitment and 2 3 year turnovers ??, larsson was on a small contract at first and could have left for more, would you rather he did so, he was on such a big contract when he was 32 as he deserved it???,i would do it all again he means that much to me

Totally right. Im surprised aswell tbh. He was cracking in Holland and he obviously had something about him, hence why Man City paid £6 million for him - remember his debut for them :smiley-laughing002:.

I know he can be a dumpling at times but he is a class player and a smart player. Hope he does stay for longer, would be brilliant, especially when you consider that he can double his wages down South - easily!

    Are you sure?

I know bleachers report can be absolute gash for reporting and their 'journalists' can be very poor. However, the comments section provides alotof insight. Both Arsenal and Liverpool fans know alot about him and all want him. Arsenal fans are slightly hesitant but Liverpool fans were absolutely ecstatic at the though of being linked to the guy and believed it was a move in the right direction. If gauged this feeling from their forums aswell.

Man United fans however do not want him, they want Eriksson.

I could understand Southampton. But Cardiff? Jesus Vic. I hope it's all bollocks. It probably is.

You do know sky was made in 1990? The English league was of a very high quality before that you know so the league wasn't "average" before sky.

Ties in with Duncan castle last night saying Cardiff had better terms for Vic and Liverpool and Everton was waiting in the back ground , Everton would need to sell Marouane Fellaini 1st.

Found it here -Liverpool, Everton & Cardiff complicate Celtic's plans for quick Wanyama sale. #LFC #EFC #CCFC #CFC #SFC

Celtic's hopes of rapidly concluding a Scottish record sale of Victor Wanyama are dependent on Southampton improving their financial offer to the Kenya international. Cardiff City have offered superior personal terms to the versatile midfielder, while Everton and Liverpool have asked to be kept informed of developments as their restructure their own squads for the coming season.

The Scottish champions have accepted a bid of around £12m from Southampton for Wanyama, who excelled in last season's run to the Champions League knock-out rounds. The sum represents a huge profit on the €1m Celtic paid to bring Wanyama from Germinal Beerschot two years ago, and exceeds their initial asking price of £10m.

The first Kenyan to play professionally in the UK, Wanyama has a long-standing ambition to become his nation's first Premier League footballer. His preference, however, is to be allowed a choice of the club he leaves Scotland for, and on the wages he agrees there.

Prepared to invest aggressively in their first top-tier campaign in over 50 years, Cardiff have proposed paying the 21-year-old a higher salary than Southampton, but believe that Celtic have over-priced his transfer fee. The Kenyan's contract at Parkhead expires in 2015 and he has declined offers to extend it.

Everton regard Wanyama as a natural successor to Marouane Fellaini, who they expect to leave Goodison in the current window. They are not, though, in a position to lodge an offer until the Fellaini's £22m release clause has been exercised and negotiations on the Belgium international's move are thought likely to drag on into July.

Liverpool may also be restrained by actions elsewhere as Brendan Rodgers prioritises a rebuild of his defence and forward line. With his transfer budget dependent on sales, Rodgers' ability to move for Wanyama is likely to prove dependent on adding the exit of the likes of Jordan Henderson to the recent sale of Andy Carroll to West Ham for an initial £15.5m.

While all four of England's Champions League clubs have scouted Wanyama extensively, there remains concerns over whether he is ready to move directly to a team challenging for the title. Jose Mourinho has been impressed with the African's progress at Celtic, but would prefer to bring a more experienced holding midfielder into a key role in his new Chelsea side.
