Well, who in their right minds would have thought that Alan Hutton and Craig Gordon would be sold for approximately £10m?

If teams really want Wanyama - especially a team like Man Utd who are STILL trying to replace Roy Keane - they will pay it.

Wanyama would walk into their midfield, and would probably become a mainstay within the team for years to come - so £20m is not exactly a fee that they cannot afford. Also, did they not spend £20m on van Persie? they will be lucky to see 3 years return on that.

Honestly i could be proved wrong but i simply dont see any team offering that kind of money the spl is worse now than it was when both of those players moved and they also never really did much to prove value for money i also think people need to be realistic he has only played 5 champions league games so far and he wasnt outstanding in all of them i think people are getting carried away with his performance vs barca at parkhead.

As I said, if they don't want to pay the asking price, I'd be quite happy for us to keep him.

It's the SPLs own small time mentality that holds it back. How much did Chelsea pay a Belgian team for Lukaku? How much to Brazilian teenagers go for? We only get offered peanuts because we always accept them.

Maybe if SPL teams stood up to teams from bigger leagues we could start to attract more money.

Hey - the more over-rated he is, then the more we can ask for him:50:

    Exactly.

The only way he'll leave in January is if it's a ridiculous figure like £15-20M.

I reckon he'll stay til the end of the season and we'll get £10-£12M for him.

Alex Ferguson may be willing to part with that cash for one reason and one reason alone.

Look at Man United's midfield battles against Barcelona in the past, can any of his midfielders say that they performed at as high a level as Big Victor did in these matches?

Realistically i think we will get 13-15 million for him, can't see 20M, 15M though is what i would want with add-ons for appearances etc...

Saying that we don't Need to sell him, but if an offer comes in that we cant refuse then we can use the money we get to strengthen all over the team.

Pretty much what I was hinting at.

His midfield have looked seriously weak and are still looking for the "enforcer" type of player in the Roy Keane mould.

Wanyama and Keane have different styles of play, but Wanyama is the type of physical powerhouse that Ferguson requires in the Utd team - he certainly does not have that in:

    Anderson
    Cleverly
    Carrick
    Fletcher

Or any other central defenders that they have.

Wanyama is also more versatile and athletic than Phil Jones.

When he leaves, and I've no doubt he will at some point, I would be shocked if it didn't shatter the Scottish transfer record. Football transfer fees, especially where English clubs are involved, are based on hype as much as anything else, Wanyama has that hype. We've seen him outshine some world class midfielders in the CL this season, players that would walk into the Man Utd side and be the stand-out player never mind the best midfielder. The Sky coverage of Vic this year has been comprehensive, far more than anything I remember for McGeady, Hutton or Gordon.

My gut feeling is that he will leave in the summer and the absolute least he will go for is £15m.

I'm happy with the way Celtic are going to run the club. Buy no ones and make them someone. Keeps the club fresh. Keeps the bank balance sweet. Maintains that new player smell.

If we can keep him until the summer I'd be very happy. If we can keep him a season on top of that I'd be delighted. He'll be sold.

The players I can see being here for the long run are Chick Mulgrew, K Wilson, Joe Ledley, Samaras, Commons

Why would we sell him for these stupid figures ranging between 6 and 12 million?

He's worth £20 million+ so pay up or don't bother annoying us with your pish. We are not some bargain basement the EPL can dip in and out of when they want.

This guy is performing in the Champions League with the best in the world, he would walk into Arsenal or Man United and be their midfield lynchpin for a decade.

Imagine the annual financial reports if we got 20mil for a player on top of what we made/will make off the champions league this year. The first season in our history without Rangers in our league and by this summer we could be more financially secure than ever before plus we could be holding onto the treble and a manager who doesnt want to leave for many years. I just cant get enough!!!!

I agree with this completely mate. Getting a good sum of money for Wanyama would let a lot of other clubs know that they are not just going to pinch our stars on the cheap.

There's no way I would even consider selling for £10M. The minute he plays well for a club like Arsenal or United then they will be talking about figures triple that.

If he signs a new deal, he stays, if not, every team in England can afford 12 million, and it might spark a bidding war between the two Manchester teams and i reckon City need him more than Utd.

    Kyogo. A phenomenon
I can see him going for circa £12 million with a vast number of the standard add-ons etc etc.......

I think 20 million is unrealistic (let alone 25,) but only time will tell if the board agree with me on that.

The fact of the matter seems to be certain, however - he will go down South (to a big club, not some * mid-table * hole) and he will smash the transfer record in this country.

We don't need to sell any of our players. As it stands, we've made almost 30m from the CL campaign, plus the Ki money from the summer, so we are not in a position where we need to flog our best players on the cheap to survive. We have exceeded expectations in Europe and reaped the rewards for that.

Don't see why we shouldn't hold out for serious bucks. He is one of the best midfielders of his age and type in the world right now and if he played in virtually any other European league, no-one would bat an eyelid at valuations of 20 mill and upwards.

The time to get desperate and start accepting measly offers is in 2 years from now, any other bids before such time should be treated with nothing but disdain.
We should turn down the first bid we receive, even if its 50 mill, purely to prove a point and act hard. We are back in the big time on the pitch, let's start playing hard off it too.
