So you think that if the likes of Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal etc come in for Shaw, and offered him £30-40k p/w, he wouldn't be on his bike. If you believe that, then you are seriously deluded.

No-one is holding a gun to his head saying sign a 5 year deal with Southampton.

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKhFyu4VL5w"]Luke Eyes Southampton Future - YouTube[/ame]

He could have quite easily decided to leave Saints, and if he did Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Spurs, Liverpool would all be interested. But he isn't, and will sign the deal tomorrow.

Don't talk garabge. If the likes of they teams were interested, then they would put in a bid. Like what teams normally do when they want a player. Then if the bid gets accepted, it's entirely up to the player. If a bid got accepted from Man Utd, Arsenal etc, offering him more money than what he is on. Do you honestly believe he would stay? It's a simple yes or no answer. Has anyone put in a bid for him?

It's easy to see unless you dont take any consideration into playing styles.

Also, Clarke has had 1 year as a manager which is completely different to being an assistant. Pochettino has had 3 years at Espanyol and they were playing superb football under him

None of them would offer him regular 1st team football in the Premier League and Saints could match the wages they would offer him. So yes, I think he'd stay and believe what he says in the interview in January, leading to him signing the contract tomorrow.

Things are very different at the club now to when Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain left.

You are completely missing the point. If these teams come in and offered more money, there is no doubt he would be away. Of course he would, don't try and kid yourself on. There are better teams than Southampton, the teams I mentioned for a start. Luke Shaw turning down Man Utd, and more money to stay at Southampton. Do you button up the back? By the way, did any of the clubs bid for him? Has any team at all bid for him this window? Since you thougt he could easily move to a bigger team.

    Nobody is irreplaceable.

Southampton fans can gloat as they please, but it's them who have given us £12.5m for a player who cost us £900k only two years ago. As long as some of the money gets reinvested into our club, I'll be happy that this whole saga is finished.

i liked southampton last season with them having boruc, and quite liked ricky lambert up front.

there fans have put me right off but. there a small club punching above there weight, for now but will eventually come crashing down, shame that its that way but * happends.

anyway on topic. glad we have the money but personally think wanyama could of walked in to 10-12 better teams in the epl.

Fair play to Southampton for bagging a top player. Think their squad is settled enough to avoid a QPR style meltdown.

I thought Vic would head to a bigger club, but never mind. Wish him all the best down there.

I think we are in a good position now, in terms of squad strength. But we need someone to add more creativity to the side. Forrest is often injured, McGeouch and Rogic are still unproven, which leaves us with Commons.

Assuming Hooper leaves, we could do with another forward, too.

Think 12.5 million is an excellent bit of business for us if I am being honest with you.

Not too sad to see him go from both our point of view and his. He was never going to develop to his full potential playing in the SPL, at times it looked too easy for him, he barely broke in to a sweat.

In terms of us as a club, if you can make that sort of profit on one player it secures the clubs short term future and on top of Champs League money, which Wanyama deserves a lot of credit for as well, we are now in a position where we can reinvest a nice amount of money in to the playing staff and go for another crack at the Champions League group stages.

On Luke Shaw, he's severely limiting his chances of getting a move any time soon by signing a long-term contract. If he had that in mind I doubt he'd be doing it.

We don't know if any formal bids have been made this summer but Arsene Wenger has been quoted expressing his admiration and (broadsheet) newspapers have long been reporting interest from United, City and Chelsea. If he continues to progress he'll end up at one of those clubs eventually but not any time soon, I don't think.

Anyway, thought I'd pop in to say thanks to everyone I was chatting with in here a few weeks ago...and apologise again for some of our fans. If we end up in a relegation scrap again then I'll apologise for what we've done with your Victor, but I don't think we will.
