Don't blame him for going, his value with us is unlikely to get higher than last season so it's a smart move for him now. Sucks for us but that's the reality of it. Good luck to him.
12 mil in, we can probably outlay 6-8 mil on 3-4 new players. I think that would suffice to see us into the group stages again. Fast/creative mid, left back cover, maybe another defensive mid and striker. All of which, frankly, will be gambles because our tendency (and rightly so) is to buy a number of lower-cost gambles to flip them a la Victor.

Hopefully this deal is done quickly as possible so we have plenty of time to replace him and bring in another 2 or 3 players for when the CL qualifiers actually get hard

Bye Bye Vic anyway cheers for the barca memories! :bbpd:

I accept the way Celtic are doing things,I think it's great business but should Hooper leave we'll be screaming out for a decent striker.I rate Stokes, but one proven goal scorer alone is not enough.

Agreed. Balde doesn't yet appear that he's ready for the first team though I know it's VERY early. Hopefully we'll get Hooper an extension after Vic leaves which will buy us time to shop for a replacement.

I can guarantee you right now that is not going to happen. Even if we qualify for the CL I still can't see us spending that type of money.

That's 6-8 mil total, over 3-4 players. Lenny himself said he'd be able to spend a chunk of the money.

We've already spent about £4.5m on 2 players

You think we're pre-spending the Vic money? I'd think 4.5 mil would be about our transfer budget without selling Vic.

Glad that this saga is finally drawing to a close.

I will miss big Vic, but he was never going to be here for long. We got two seasons out of him and he scored some important goals for us, especially against Barcelona. Looking forward to seeing how he does in the EPL in the coming season.

We should try and hijack Leroy Fer from under Norwichs grasp for £4.5 million. Would be perfect replacement for us (living in dreamland i know)

I'll miss the big guy, real quality player who will go on to bigger things. Glad, though, that he's just about gone so we have plenty of time to replace him and get another couple in with the money.

    Good luck Victor:50:

Would be wages that would be the problem mate the transfer policy that we have adopted isn't all about the transfer values it's about the wages we are getting them in on as well.

my guess would be fer would want at least 30k that would be a no go

Nah, I was just putting it out there that it is not without the realms of possibility.

Im seeing alot of Southampton fans on websites calling him a mercenary. His agent has really made Vic look like a money grabber which isnt fair.

As much as I like the guy he's a mercenary.

Refused to sign a new contract with us due to money demands, tried to push through a transfer to cardiff that was 2.5M less than our valuation because Carfiff would pay more wages than Southampton. Now that Celtic have stood strong and denied any move short of our asking price he's interested in Southampton again.

He's a money grabber. But can't blame him, guy grew up in Africa.
