I agree he's still very raw. A transfer to Arsenal would make sense but I don't see him improving them in the knockout rounds of the champions league at his current level. Not worth £20m but English clubs pay daft prices

If hes going between Southamton and another top Epl club like Arsenal i can see a £20M tag the min price that would be accepted from them look at the sales they made in the summer to other Epl clubs if they had sold any of they players in a January window while doing well I imagine they would have been a little more inflated fees then the high fees they already were.

Starting to think we probably don't have a sell on clause - not for a £12.5m player sale.

Also, doubt Arsenal want him. Obviously managers/coaches opinions differ to fans however most still don't rate him.

I have a (sort of) mate, more acquaintance at uni, from Brentford. Supports Arsenal is a member on a forum, think its Arsenal Mania. Aye, well he says there hasn't even been a mention of him being bought and most still see him as a big bumbling type of footballer, rather than a no nonsense type.

They would rather go for Morgan Schneiderlin (sp?).

I'd rather United go for Schneiderlin than Wanyama. He's a better player, Wanyama is good but not good enough technically for a champions league side. His passing and touch are average

Wee stat comparison of them in the League...

They've played almost the exact same game time, Schneiderlin's only played 16 minutes more.

85.4% Wanyama Passing Accuracy Schneiderlin 89.1%
47.7 Wanyama Passes Per Match Schneiderlin 65.5
7 Wanyama Chances Created Schneiderlin 11
18 Wanyama Successful Dribbles Schneiderlin 5
56 Wanyama Tackles Won Schneiderlin 53
    24 Wanyama Interceptions Schneiderlin 17
39 Wanyama Fouls Committed Schneiderlin 32
23 Wanyama Fouled Suffered Schneiderlin 11
    20 Wanyama Dispossesed Schneiderlin 15
32 Wanyama Headers Won Schndeiderlin 28
18 Wanyama Dribbled Against Schneiderlin 28
    29 Wanyama Clearances Schneiderlin 20
    2 Wanyama Blocks Schneiderlin 5
20 Wanyama Shots Hit Schneiderlin 18
    3 Wanyama Goals Schneiderlin 3
    1 Wanyama Assists Schneiderlin 0
    2 Wanyama MOTM Schneiderlin 1
    4 Wanyama Yellows Schneiderlin 4
    0 Wanyama Reds Schneiderlin 1

    Fairly tight.

Hard to full compare though since they play slightly different roles. Schneiderlin is more the sitter and dictator - spending a lot of time in his own half or around the halfway line doing a lot of short passing, doesn't roam much where as Wanyama has a bit more freedom to push more forward and go in behind the oppositions midfield, for us Wanyama played more of a sitting role with Brown/Kayal/Ledley more in the freer roaming one.

Wanyama over Schneiderlin all day every day for me.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Arsenal ended up plumping for finesse over steel though, seems their fans are as daft as their Manager has been the past half a dozen years.

Stats are often misleading and irrelevant apart from sports like cricket and baseball. Schneiderlin is a better player than Wanyama

    That's a personal opinion.

If you are looking for a midfield enforcer, as Arsenal should be, it's not even a competition. Wanyama is the best option.

Its tight for me, both of them are good EPL class centre-mids. Schneiderlin is a strong player and the team can play through quite well like a Gareth Barry. Wanyama is a big powerful, good energetic ball winning player who can beat players and get around the pitch.

The provide good balance beside each other though. Liverpool should offer £20million plus Lovren and Lambert back for the two of them. In hindsight I bet Rodgers would much rather have they two than Lovren, Lallana and Lambert as they dont even need they 3, Lallana is the only starting capable player but they have Coutinho, Sterling, Markovic and badly lack solid centre-mids.

I would say for top teams Wanyama would be more useful, due to his stronger defensive side and more dominant "rampaging" around midfield better at recovering or tracking back or defending counter attacks.

I'm not suggesting that Schneiderlin should be signed as an enforcer, Wanyama is clearly better in that role. There must be someone out there better than Wanyama in his role who would cost less. I rate Victor but don't think he's good enough for the latter stages of the champions league and the top of the premier league

If United signed him for £20m I'd be disappointed

Theres a lack of top ball winning enforcer types around though, the old style ones like Makelele, Emerson, M.Diarra, Desailly, Mascherano which id say Wanyama is - more of a defender playing in midfield has went out of fashion for the sitting passing type like Schneiderlin, Fernandinho, Martinez, Alonso, Strootman, Barry even though they aren't really defensive players who are that good at defending although decent defensively. Teams even play poor defensive players in the role nowadays just for their passing and ball retention like Arteta, Blind, Modric, Song, Banega, Allen, Ki etc

Fantastic talent. Would love to see him at Barca so they could fine tune his passing and technical skills.

Kinda agree although he would be a good squad player even for a team like utd, i'd swap feilaini for wanyama in a heartbeat for example, 15m would be a fair price.

They're not completely irrelevant but often pointless

CMs with decent pass accuracy often just make easy passes as they never attempt harder ones

And two players never play the same role in the team so obviously ones are more creative and ones more defensive

It's better just to watch Scheiderlin and Wanyama and then decide who's the better player, or which would suit one team more

If I was Arsenal I'd be all over Big Vic. As it stands, he's not on the level of say, Matic, but a * sight better in that role than the likes of Arteta and Wilshere

Arsenal could have done with Forster, Van Dijk and Wanyama. They could have got those 3 off us in the last 18 month for about £35million. Yet they'd need to pay probably £20-25million for Wanyama alone now.
