Ludicrous booking, ref was a * the whole night everytime a benfica player went down he blew the whistle.

Harsh booking by the ref, the ref was a complete joke the whole game though.

It's to be expected with Iberian teams but it's always infuriating to see.

He has now grown into our lynchpin, he will absolutely be missed against Spartak.

    I'm not picky.
He was probably a bit afraid to make any kind of tackle incase he got sent off. It was an absolute joke of a booking and the ref (who was pish) * that right up by giving it in the first place.

The way Benfica players were hitting the deck it wouldn't have taken much for that idiot to book Wanyama again, so he probably got a bit less physical.

It's pretty obvious what happened, he didn't want to risk getting a red card which severely limited his game as he couldn't tackle.

Massive blow having him out the side for what is now one of our biggest games in years.

Thought the way he played showed that he knew if he was booked he was out of the spartak game, he definitely wasn't his usual imperious self tonight, think he was too preoccupied with not getting booked than playing well.

He would have been sent off tonight if he had played his usual game - not that I'm saying he would have been sent off through his own fault, no - the referee was a * disgrace......as were those bunch of diving wanks.

    How was he "stinking"? :97:

Was pretty solid in midfield, passed pretty well and didn't really put a foot wrong, even when he was wrongly booked. After he was booked he was probably too afraid to really do anything because of the inept referee and the diving Benfica players because you just know they would have played on it if he put the tackles in.

Hopefully Kayal will be able to step up to the mark for us :50:

Cant see spartak sending a full strength side over tbh for a nothing match from their perspective

I think he wasn't his normal self last night because he had in his head if he gets booked he'll be out of the next game, we didn't want that happening but it did. Big loss going into the last game, just hope we can do it.

Tbh glad he's out the Spartak match. We should beat them fine with Kayal in the team. And it means he doesn't have the booking hanging over him for the knockout stages.
