If you were watching Big Vic on MOTD on a Saturday night playing for Liverpool, Arsenal, Man Utd or even Bolton or so on, you would be ranting and raving about the guy and would dream of him playing for Celtic.

To have him at our club is a * masterstroke and something we will be smiling about for years to come.

He probably has the most potential out of our entire squad, far more potential for example than McGeady who went for 12 million.

If we play our cards right and the board stick to the principles they have shown recently, we can sell Wanyama for 20 million in a year or two.

Too many Celtic fans happy to accept * prices just cos our players play in a "* league"

While I agree that Vic is a great prospect, and I wouldn't sit down to hear an offer of less than £12-15M for him, he isn't worth more than Essien when he signed for Chelsea.

I think he is as he is younger, faster and can still be moulded. Unlike Essian, who was hard, slow and was ageing.

Wanyama's passing is actually our 5th best in the Champions League. 71% completion only beaten by Rogne and Ledley who have only done a few passes as theyve only made sub appearances and Ambrose and Wilson our two centre-backs.

    Comparible to other centre-mids Marchisio 75%, Modric 75%, Gundogan 74%, Nocerino 73%, Romulo 73%, Pirlo 72%, Essien 71%, Kallstrom 70%, Veloso 70%, Diaby 70%, Moutinho 69%, Kehl 69%, Lucho 69%, Biglia 68%, Shirokov 67%, Asamoah 66%, Zyryanov 66%, Blaszczykowski 64%, Ramires 63%, Eriksen 63%, Flamini 62%, Vidal 61%.

So you know scouts have been to watch him?? If they have been to watch him why has nobody put a bid in for him if hes so good??
When did players move for £40-80m ?? Did zidane and figo not go for round the £40-45m back in the early 2000's ?? 6 years before Petrov moved ?
M'Villa is an average player overhyped by the french press but Wanyama isnt overhyped by the scottish press :87:
Similiar to Toure ?? haha, come on please dont :smiley-laughing002:

He has completed more passes than Y.Toure, J.Garcia, Barry, Nocerino, Carrick, Alonso, Arteta, Veloso, Defour, Essien and De Jong. But Fisher was mocking him making few passes.

Outstanding in our first game against Benfica?? Is that the home game we played where we never created a chance in the whole 90mins?? Can you tell me what he done that was so outstanding??
Excellent against Spartak?? Why because he took a bad touch, got away with a stupid looking tackle and then played a simple ball out wide??? Or was it the usual stupid booking he recieved, the 22 completed passes he done or the fact we won the game after he got taken off???

Defensive midfielders are not supposed to create goalscoring opportunities. They are there to protect the defence. We kept a clean sheet that night, although we did not score, and a large part of that clean sheet was because of Wanyama.

Dominated against Benfica?? Yes we really dominated that game didnt we. 0 goals and 0 chances. Total domination !
Yes he set up the 1st because of the great 1st touch he has, stupid foot up challenge he got away with then the simple ball out wide. What was the score when he got the hook after his excellent display where he had 22 completed passes??

Ageing? At 23? Essien was fantastic for a great Lyon. Wanyama looks like he could be special - but he doesn't have near the profile Essien did pre-Chelsea. Literally nowhere near it.

If we had big Vic when Lyon had Essian, my crystal ball says we would have never lost that game against Lyon through a penalty cause the ball would never have reached big Bobo's hand. :50:

Worth double what Essien was worth?? So about £50m then as chelsea paid about £25m for him. Much older ? Is that the same Essien Lyon already paid a few million for before that?? Think he would have been about 21 or so when Lyon signed him for £4 -£5m then a couple of years later sold onto Chelsea.

Celtic have completed more Champions League passes than Real Madrid, PSG, AC Milan, Ajax, Arsenal, Man City, Dortmund, Schalke, Zenit, Porto, Benfica, Malaga and a few others :50:

So if passes completed is so important then we're world class :celt_2:

We have also completed more crosses than Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal, Milan, Juventus, Valencia, Dortmund, Schalke, PSG, Ajax, Zenit and more :celt_2:

Have to say I agree with this. I think you and Butch should go and find a new sport to watch.

He made 22 completed passes against Spartak. How many passes did these other players make??? That 1 stat that shows he only completed 22 passes in 1 game tells you how inefective he is in a game. Top class midfielders like you all think he is make more passes than that in the 1st 15mins of a game. Be pretty easy to have a high percentage of pass accuracy when you dont get on the ball much. Suppose your toure's, Alonso's and Xavi's of this world have a similiar pass rate of 22 completed passes in a game??
