This all depends on whether you think big jan is the player he was when he first or arrived or the player he was at psv. I am not denying his quality or if he can score goals, i just dont think we are getting the best out of him. Yeah it could be lack of quality balls being delivered to him but i think there is more to it.

I think that the guy is either not 100% fit, or he is not as focused or hungry as he should be, which could be because of the lack of chances he is getting but there is normally more to his game than that. He normally throws his weight about, gives opposition defenders something to think about, and our defence something to aim at, he normally brings others into the game by doing these things which he is just not doing at the moment. I think a place on the bench for a few spl games would not harm either him or the team and would cure either or both of these problems.

from a big jan fan who thinks he will come good.

when he first arrived I thought he was better than Hartson. Basically Hartson but with a little more pace and movement. He was never as good at holding the ball up as Sutton but I think Sutton was the best ever world player at that. JVOH is on the other hand better facing the goal and more of a natural finisher than sutton. If JVOH can get back to his early form he is a more than decent player. I think he will come good and that constant injuries and no fixed partner hace set him back.

Never thought he was better than Hartson, and certainly don't think he is a better finisher than Sutton. Chris Sutton, for me, was the complete centre forward. Good in the air, great at holding the ball up, and a good finisher. Plus he really put himself about. Right now I don't think JVOH is close to what Sutton, or Hartson, gave us.

sutton was really not very good with his feet facing the goal if he had too much time. Thats what cost him at Chelsea. He was not as natural a goals machine as Hartson either, more of a superb support striker, like Sheringham. Sutton and Hartson together when Henke had just left was not a good mixture. What we ideally would want is a guy who is a natural finisher, good in the air and mobile. When he was young I thought Beatts might have all those attributes but injury set his development back years and thats gone. Sheridan looks like he could press JVOH in the next year. He is an exceptional young player but he is not ready for CL etc. I would also fancy sniffing about the smaller Italian teams cause even they have strikers of EPL standard.
