imo its tiring to hear people keep saying "keep the faith" etc. Celtic are going in a downward spiral and turniing into a joke, theres only so far that keeping the faith gets you.

the fact is scottish football is unbelievably bad.every scottish team out of europe except you know who. and they wont do anything. 4-0 against st mirren means nothing. the spl is no better than the league of ireland. we were embarrassed tonight by a mediocre team. at one point they made about 25 passes in one move. they were playing with us. totally embarrassing. it wont stop me supporting celtic, ive supported them all my life. but i understand the frustration of fans on here. we cant sign top players, who wants to play in the spl? and now we dont even have europa league to tempt new players. the team was * tonight especially the defence.some of those players are not good enough to play for celtic. yeah we might go on and win the league but that will only set us up for major embarrassment in the cl. i fear for celtic and scottish football as a whole. something needs to be done and i'm * if i know what it is.

yes agree with you mate, we must be the only club in this planet, that the fans take a full boot in the bawz, ever second week, we never seem to go down fighting, never achieve anything from corners, never enough players in the box to get a penalty shout. we except players if they cost 5million, and brown to me is only a bumpy car a dodgem, and Sammy's joke, on tight defenses, maloney can join aberdeen for free if he likes. and zaluska can go home anytime

Im wide awake pal, and by the looks of things, i think im one of few who actually us. Utrecht might go far in the competition, based on that performance they will.

Unfortunatly one of the downsides to a new managment team with a new crop of players, we need paitience, which since moggas ear a lot of people have lost. We were not going to win the tournement so until we can win our own league we should focus on that.

I dont really care how they qualified, if we were playing in that league we wouldnt have survived last season.

I don't know what was worse tonight: the team's performance or the streams I was trying to watch it on. Well, OK, it was the performance.

I was optimistic for the 1st time in a long time after watching the verve, swagger and hunger of the team on Sunday; yes I know it was against a * poor St Mirren team, but there was reason to feel hopeful. Alas, we all know how stupid it can be to get your hopes up.

Tonight, the team froze; there was no cohesive tactical acuity; the lack of quality up front showed; players playing out of position (and by this I mean formation wise, not just Ledley); facing a team from a technically superior league and lack of character when the pressure is on did for us.

The penalties could have both been quite easily avoided. The first was slow reaction times from Hoiveld and the second slow reactions from Zaluska. The whole game our slowness of thought was ruthlessly exposed. How do you get over that? Well, training together as a team so you operate as a team is one way; the other involves signing a higher calibre of player; let's hope the training progresses. I missed the third goal, but saw a bit of a highlight of it. It looked like too many defenders not getting tight and making the challenge - a bit like the Braga goal at Parkhead - where the defenders all stood off the man letting him hit the cross in. We did not press Utrecht at all tonight, which is surprising as that was the biggest plus from the weekend. Whereas they pressed us all night and our defence to midfield/striker distribution was a) pretty woeful and b) the necessary hold-up play never materialised.

The quality of player at our disposal will rarely be able to beat a team from europe with decent technical ability unfortunately; we have seen this for a while now. I'm not going to single out players - because there are too many tonight. However, on players being out of position:

Ledley - not a left back (shockingly exposed when Zaluska stopped 5 nil)
Cha - can't really defend (another fullback who can't defend), he started his career at striker!
Fortune - bought as a striker not a right midfielder/winger
Samaras - it would just be too easy to beat him up. (again)

Their coach said they knew Celtic's weakness, and would tell the media after the game; our only hope is that he tell's our coaching staff instead.

The two main worries I now have is the detrimental effect this could have on moral and the possibility of any further signings will now be hit on the financial and prestige side. Let's hope we can win the league and get it right next year!

Disgusted with that performance, nobody on that team could be bothered and it looked like a pre-season friendly. To go from that great performance in the first leg and another confidence booster against St Mirren and then produce that * just boggles the mind, I had a good feeling that we would be able to break this away hoodoo but it just keeps going on and on.

I've seen enough so far to know that we're not totally useless and I still think we'll win the league but tonight was very worrying about Lennon and most of the players mentality.

The league is still priority depsite this humiliating knockout.

Its not just the results tonight but the overall performance, shocking!. We beat Inverness buy a single goal away, a newly promoted team. We beat St Mirren 4-0, a team that will be or close to being relegated this season cos its full of 1st division players. The first team we come up against who have obviously done there homework and can play a bit, we struggle.
Celtic FC and its supporters set and demand certain standards, beating two poor teams and losing in the manner we did to a Dutch team who finished 7th in their league is not an acceptable standard. With no European football we are not going to improve, only play to the standard the SPL allows. This is potentially disasterous finacially for the club, no European money coming, no more bums on seats coming through and stuck with players we dont want, with the money and wages we have spent could be tricky times ahead

i know its hard to think straight after that game but we all need to calm down.we win one game and we think we the best team in the world .we lose a game and we think we the worst team in the world.one win in 28 away games in Europe tells the whole story.i am sorry to have to say this but the SPL is s**t.Lets give Lenny time and if it does not work out bring back MON.

    :50: spot on mate.

We'll always have those that put up with it no matter what but to try defend that lot tonight is just papering over the cracks imo. We all chip in to the club in some way and we're all entitled to our opinions.People are rightly annoyed by tonights shambles. Not one good thing to take from that match

It's got to the point i'm worrying more about the fans that are on the verge of turning there back on celtic :54: Come on bhoys get u're act together we will be back!! maybe not this season maybe not next but ffs we are celtic. We as fans can't change what happens on the park but we can change what happens in the stands, we don't care if we win lose or draw after all. We have maybe not be classed as the best team in the world lately but we have been classed as having the best fans.

Keep the faith it's what separates us from the rest :shamrock:
