UEFA Team ranking for 2008

See in a sense it's better to get to the Champs League group stages; finish third and then go on a run in the uefa cup. Because then you'll beat most team - to get the rankings back up - and get a decent revenue. Saying that if we can just win lots of games in the Champ League and get to the 1/4 final we should be ok.

So as much as it hurts to say it, we really need the other Scottish teams including the Huns to have a good run in Europe because it affects us.

 

Aberdeen, Dunfermline and that mob, wouldnt hold my breath mate.

It annoys me that the coefficients for progression in the UC and UCL are the same, its ridiculous.

 

I'm not expecting much, but the failure of clubs like Gretna, Hearts and Hibs is really starting to cost us.

Even if Aberdeen could reach the UEFA Cup group stage it could really boost the Scottish coefficient.

 

I always support every Scottish team in Europe for this reason!!

Even Killmarnock!! (Who I hate more than Rangers, well almost as much, no more I hate them more).

The ruling giving beaten Scottish Cup finalists a place in UEFA Cup is ridiculous, ok give Dunfermilne or Gretna a go in Europe if they win the Cup - but giving it to them when they get gubbed, it's * embarassing & puts us down in the co-efficient.

 

we need either another last 16 or better or a run to final of uefa cup again to stay gd in the ratings

 

I think Aberdeen could do alright in the UEFA Cup but losing Anderson will be ablow to them. Dunfermline will crash out and same with gers

The big joke is how UEFA award points with no difference between UEFA Cup games and Champions League games for getting points. So under the current system you actually are better off playing in the UEFA Cup and stacking up points against weaker teams then playing in the Champions League. For instance I think the huns got 2 more rankings points then us last season because of their decent UEFA Cup run. Despite us making the last 16. A total joke but that is how it is done at the moment. Really they should change the points system with higher points awarded for the Champions League. Say Champions League points being double that of the UEFA Cup and as you get further in each competition the points you get for a win and a draw increase but always with the Champions League being double the points of the UEFA Cup. I think that would be fair and make sense.

 

good idea mate but im still trying to get to grips with what you said!!! Teams in the uefa cup get the SAME points as the teams playing BETTER and harder to beat teams in the CL? That is just stupid and not fair (dolly oot the pram, gonny geez it up case it gets dirty)

Why oh why do we continue to have our game (world) run by total morons that in MOST cases have never even played football? It will never cease to amaze me

absolute bollocks!! the points system should i agree be far higher for CL than Uefa Cup. does this mean intertoto cup is rated the same as CL and UC, so then lowest clubs in europe get the same points as us in the CL?
