Aye, true. Just can't see it though. I think the other four are a class above the rest. Spurs, United & Everton will be fighting it out for 5th.

I mind the game we beat Benfica 3-0 at Parkhead when Kenny Miller score twice I swapped my scarf with an old woman in the Benfica section, still got the scarf. I understand that's not really relevant to this seasons Europa league, but came to mind.

I agree that it is mathematically achievable but they have no consistency. Arsenal always have wobbles but never major enough that they finish 5th!

Most people would think that it would be nice for them to just concentrate on attempting to win a trophy - especially a European one. Chelsea still celebrated as if it was a 'big deal'. :smiley-laughing002:

Have you seen both Arsenal and Spurs run in as well, IF Spurs can get a win, or even a draw at home to Arsenal on Sunday they have a pretty comfortable run in apart from Liverpool away, Arsenal will have Spurs away, followed by Chelsea away, then they still have Man City at home and Everton away.

Spurs have the makings of a decent team though with players like Walker, Vertonghen, Paulinho, Dembele and Eriksen.

If I was them id punt Lloris, Dawson, Rose, Naughton, Sandro, Chadli, Lamela, Lennon, Sigurdsson and Soldado.

The English seem to rate Sandro but I think hes pish, rarely breaks up play, average on the ball and just an ordinary player, he plays how Gary Caldwell played in midfield for us.

They were boring to watch under AVB too. I don't remember Spurs ever being exciting to watch, except possibly one season under Harry Redknapp. They relied far too heavily on Bale

For the bestest league planet earth has ever had the fortune to see, the English teams have fairly taken an absolute roasting in Europe.

Hopefully another 2 to get pumped out next week.

Only seen the 2nd half but what an absolute lesson in football from Benfica. Out played on the park, out sang in the stands and Jorge Jesus out managed Sherwood.

Luisao was immense(Garay assisted well) and Adebayor wasn't interested in competing with him. The two subs made after the Eriksen free-kick, ripped the stuffing out of any thoughts of a come back. Gaitan walked on and took control of the game. With the help of his teammates they made Spurs chase the ball.

A magnificent away leg display and it was done by being proactive going forward.

The approach of English Football to belittle the Europa League deserved that result tonight.

Adebayor looked like a gangly lump tonight to be honest. In the way of everything, slow and seemed behind the game the whole night.

Really proud of the team today. Fans were brilliant as well.

Jesus always explodes in the heat of the moment, nothing new there. According to his words, didn't like to hear Spurs manager telling him to be in his side of the bench area.

    Congrats :50:

Very impressive performance. Played some gorgeous football.

Seem to have improved quite a bit since the two Celtic games last year.

I didn't see the problem with Jesus's actions tbh? :smiley-laughing002:

Its a game of football - you want to wind up your opposition. Too soft nowadays and too PC.

Benfica played brilliant and beautifully BUT I have one tiny criticism. Some of the passing was a bit heavy tonight, weighted too much and the players couldn't catch it.

Anybody see the end of the game where Jesus and Sherwood stood waiting to see who would flinch first :56::56::56:

    Brilliant stuff.

Me and my dad were howling at that. :56:

The officials were standing like 'ehh, whaaat do we do?' Looked awkward.

Jesus and Sherwood both glimpsing at each other, standing there like old awkward *. :56:

    Jesus is a legend.

Sigurdsson - good player to have from the bench

Lamela & Soldado - class at Roma and Valencia respectively and clearly talented, but you'd punt them after only one season? Plenty of players have turned it around after a poor first season in a new country.
