These games are going to be nervous as *. Every team will be desperately wanting the riches of Champions League Group stages and beyond to make up for lost revenue due to the months on no football. The only positive is we should be at the same stage as other teams regarding match fitness and sharpness. Usually when we play these games we are still in pre training but other leagues have started weeks ahead of us.

In the 1st 2 rounds we should really tank anybody we play home or away. I'm surprised all Europa qualifiers are 1 leg.

The rumour has been going around about only CL playoffs 2 leg. However very little has come out about how this would work

Each round will be a final! Don’t think it’s a fair way to really have either team home or away, should be neutral Venue if there’s no fans it doesn’t matter which stadium. Will be exciting to watch with each game having that pressure but not sure if I’m confident on that being the case for us.

doesnt matter anyway does it, we’ll get to the final round. Win the first leg at home 1-0 then lose 3-1 away haha

Hopefully we will be up to speed, or we might see another Lincoln Red Imps, but without the second leg reprieve.

THE UEFA Executive Committee has confirmed scheduling changes to this season’s UEFA Champions League qualification and group stage rounds in light of the current COVID-19 coronavirus crisis.

It means that all qualifying rounds will be played in single legs, instead of home and away, with the exception of the play-off round which will remain over two legs. The draw will determine which club hosts each qualifying match.

The moves seek to create minimal disruption to the competition’s recognised format, and UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin considers the adjustments key to getting supporters back in stadiums sooner rather than later.

The UEFA President said said: “I am delighted that we are able to resume almost all of our competitions. I am confident that we will not have to endure the fans’ absence for long and that they will be allowed into stadiums sooner rather than later.

“The football community has worked together and shown tremendous unity during this unprecedented crisis. I would like to thank FIFA, our sister confederations, national associations, clubs, leagues, players and the relevant authorities for their continuous support and commitment and I am convinced that we come out of this crisis stronger and with closer links than ever before.

“I would like to convey a heartfelt message of appreciation and gratitude to the hundreds of thousands of unsung heroes who worked tirelessly on the frontline during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is their dedication and bravery that has allowed our societies and football to return so quickly. Without their effort and sacrifices, none of this would have been possible.”

The new calendar of the qualifying phase and group stage for the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League is as follows:

    - Preliminary round: 8 and 11 August

    - First qualifying round: 18/19 August

    - Second qualifying round: 25/26 August

    - Third qualifying round: 15/16 September

    - Play-offs: 22/23 and 29/30 September

    - Group stage: 20/21 and 27/28 October; 3/4 and 24/25 November; 1/2 and 8/9 December

Subsequent rounds post-Christmas will be scheduled as normal.

Yes and down to luck if the tie is to be home /away. We'll be seeded for all the qualifying rounds so in theory an easier draw but being one off games anything could happen. If our league has started I'd be more confident. Squeeky * time no matter who we are going to play.

Being at home with no fans could be the best outcome given the circumstances..

We will be used to the surroundings and hopefully be less nervous than we were v Cluj and Copenhagen. The tension from the stands can sometimes transmit to the players and we can become detrimental to the team.

Don't get we wrong a packed Celtic Park should always be a massive advantage and you can learn a lot about the players in nights like, the pressure is part of playing for Celtic.

However it might not be the end of the World when the tie becomes inevitably tight.

See it from the smaller teams we plays view though too... they’re used to playing to virtually no fans. Coming to a packed out Celtic park could be daunting to many of them and put pressure on those. The no fans could end up being more of an advantage to them than it is to our players

Only against better teams. Against lesser teams we become expectant and very often look to the team to lift the crowd rather than the crowd to lift the team
