Both Basel and Ludogorets are knocked out tonight !! Although being extremely difficult, but if we manage to qualify for the groups with them out, would push us closer to pot 3. Would still need another few teams with higher coefficient to go out too though.

Ludogorets, one of the teams ahead of us in the seeding, are out.

This means that, if we pass by AEK Athens, our potential opponents, assuming no shocks, would be Young Boys, Malmö, Red Star and Qarabag.

All of them in my opinion are worse sides than AEK.

AEK are even more dangerous, at least judging by the fact that they are strolling it in the league.

The league hasn’t started in Greece.

And AEK lost their two top goalscorers, and two best centre backs over the summer. Their manager left as well.

It will need 8 games played to get into this competition. You win the * league cup playing less minutes of football

May have already been answered but Celtic are ranked above AEK in the club coefficients so why does Celtic start at round 1 and AEK start at round 3?

Is it due to the Scottish National team or other Scottish results in Europe?

Find it staggering that we have to go through 4 rounds when a lot of lesser quality teams go through less.

League you play in, we’re miles ahead of Hoffenheim as an example who go straight into the Groups.

It is because the Scottish club coefficient is so poor. The national team have nothing to do with it. Our individual coefficient only helps with seedings and pot numbers, but not where we enter the competition.

It's because the round you enter the competition is determined by the national coefficient, but being a seed or not os determined by the team coefficient.

AEK has a low coefficient despite being greek champions since it missed european football in many seasons altogether due to internal competition.

And yes, UEFAs rules are extremely complex and getting worse. You need to be a full time nerd to understand it

Just had a look at the revenue distribution for this season, not only would we rake in about 40 million for qualifiying for the group stages, but a win in the groups this season has went up from 1.2 million per win to 2.4 million per win and 900k for a draw. :35:

I see that uefa have already done the pots for the Europa league draw tomorrow.

Looking at the big picture..if we get knocked out by AEK Athens it looks like we would be looking at an easy tie in the Europa playoff match.

We have avoided Hapoel Beer Sheva/Apoel Nicosia and FC Cluj, the two main tests imo.

We could get one of 4 teams,Midjitland from Denmark being the only team to worry about even then we should be good enough to win that one.FC Sheriff are there to along with some minows from Georgia.

As I said, just looking at big picture.
