I wouldn't write Legia off but it will be tough. Be'er Sheva are a good team so surprised they got a pumping. Astana although winning will likely not be happy, they usually get through on good home results.

 

nah mate......i think these 2 are away and good riddance!!..........Astana i would have at 50/50. My limited knowledge of these teams is based purely what i saw of them this time last year and the years before so can't comment on how decent they are!! i.e. they may have lost their best players,etc

 

Can't believe some folk are panicking over AEK tie. We are so good, if we are to play Aitchison and Mikey Johnstone up front, and Ewan in the middle, we would still hammer them, home and away .Play Bitton in goal, I don't give a *, doesn't matter really. Rosenborg tie is a given. Pointless to discuss.

 

Hope we avoid Zagreb. Id imagine it is a very hostile place to go and they must be decent due to the pumping they just served.

Zagreb isnt anymore hostile than Celtic Park on a European night mate, all the atmosphere comes from the bad blue boys in the North stand, the rest of the stadium is usually half empty. Would like to avoid them though after them beating beer sheva 5-0 last night, must have improved a lot in the last few years.

 

On the bright side it's a baptism of fire at the start of every season. Means we go into the domestic season without a hint of rustiness.

In a blow to AEK’s Champions League hopes, key centre-back Dmytro Chygrynskiy has been ruled out for at least a month with a muscle injury received in a friendly match against Atromitos (0:0). The 31-year old Ukrainian is currently undergoing treatment, but there is no chance of him participating in the matches against either Celtic or Rosenborg in early August.

True, however with the travelling and need to prioritise the CL games it could lead to us being a bit below par in Augusts league games. I don't believe this will have any bearing whatsoever on us winning the league but it could affect our momentum and performance in games.

 

Don't know much at all but i think they'll be at least a step up from Rosenborg, should we qualify.

The way i see it's all down to us!! Wednesday was as Jekyll and Hyde as you'll get, admittedly pretty much down to the starting formation. If we perform like we did in the first half the other night against better quality opposition we could find ourselves in deep * trying to get out of the tie!!

Flip side is, if we play like we did in the second half i think we'll beat pretty much anyone, including Rosenborg, in the qualifiers through goal power alone!!

Having said all that a new CB wouldn't go amiss........sorry i had to get that in there!!
