Barca's weakness for years has been their defence. Alba and Alves are fantastic offensively but defensively they leave a lot to be desired. Filipe Luis is a far better defender, and he's good going forward.

 

What a team Atletico are, they're going toe to toe with the richest and biggest teams in Europe. Also Griezmann has been some signing for them, I'm surprised they got him so easily considering he was great at Sociedad too.

Simeone is easily the best manager on the planet and if he wins the Champions League then it could even put him among the greatest ever.

 

Apparently Spanish clubs have now won 13 of out 13 knockout ties v non-Spanish clubs this season, and 44 out of 47 in the last three seasons.

But the English league is obviously the best

 

Offt that is a stat and a half, but dont include Athletic they aren't Spanish

Barca are a fantastic team and have been for years but it's known that their defence can be dodgy as *, and also has been for years. Alba is a good player but he's not a particularly great defender.

 

And can we include resources financially in this argument, c'mon you know this isn't even nearly an even playing field given that, this is most of our points this is some achievement from one of the less glamorous clubs

 

How they have spent over a £100 million that was tied up in sponsorship deals this has been reported as their way round the financial fair play, it is being looked at as we speak , and i thought you said there was no comparison to Leicester from Atletico

Exactly! I said their defence is their weakness and you seemed to have an issue with that...now you're agreeing with me.

* me the original point was that Filipe Luis is a better defender than Alba, then you went on to talk about Barca winning 4 CL's which has * all to do with the original point.

 

In a strange way I'd like to see Manchester City win the Champions League then sack the manager who won it in order to bring in a guy that they've hired....to win the Champions League.

 

Off the top of my head Vardy blatantly diving against West Ham a few weeks back and then mouthing off at the referee when he got a second yellow for it. Very much like what you're accusing Atletico of.

Also Danny Drinkwater on Sunday trying to pull down Depay with not even an attempt to get the ball with a few minutes to go as he was runnning into the box. Should have been a penalty, was given outside the box - similar to how Barca should have got a penalty after Gabi handballed it at the last minute but it was given outside.

That's just off the top of my head. I'll give you that Leicester don't do it to the same extent, but as a wee team against a big team, there's always going to be some tactical fouling, diving and general time-wasting.

Atletico have limited resources so they created a system and it works. But if you really think they are totally anti-football, just look at the fact they pumped Real 4-0 last year. They're a team with a solid defensive basis yes, but anti-football they are not.

Crazy that Navas is still a regular for City.

 

Those two Brazilians in midfield for City are * rotten, you would think with all that dosh they would buy some right good holding midfielders to let their attackers flourish, but those two cannot be trusted
