We should all be proud of the way we fought, battled and emulated the Serie A league leaders. Some players never played as well as others, but overall we should be quite pleased with our efforts. Rangers couldn't beat Maribor, so look at it that way.

Found myself absolutely livid with how the officials dealt with the decisions to be honest. Samaras' run in the first few minutes was perfectly legit, and for some obscure reason the foul goes against him? I hate when we play Italians in general, whether it be Scotland vs Italy, or just Italian clubs. They are diving, cheating *. The amount of rolling about and over-reacting I witnessed tonight was * appalling. The referee's decision to book Cha instead of Brown.. Seriously? That doesn't happen at under 11 * tournaments fs, so why is it happening at a professional Europa League level? And the linesman who was 3 yards away when the foul happened, was questioned about it and just shook his head.. What the * is he getting paid for, *.

    Anyway, rant over.

Thought we did really well, the huns are nothing compared to Udinese. Bring on the 28th!

    Hail Hail

People need to put this game into perspective.
Tonight those lads proved to us that they are a very good football side. Very good.
We really should have won tonight against the team 1st in Serie A and on the back of 9 straight home wins in all competitions!

I thought Kayal played very well tonight. People saying he was * or invisible is beacuse he wasn't getting on the ball but he done a lot of the work off the ball and made it hard for Udinese to break us down. When he went off, Udinese got through the spine of our team no bother. Still cant understand the decision to take him off

best celtic performance in years what people don't realise this wasn't st mirren away this was udinese away and we had to win big step up and we did step up fantastic performance and im dissapointed we didn't win a bit more luck and we were through but we have a young team and we are building to be what we used to be and i think that performance will help us kick on in the league and will stand us in good sted for europe next year.........forster,brown,ki,sammy n forrest outstanding

I think this difference of criticism is down to Brown being captain - people generally expect the captain to be the best player on the pitch and so is less likely to escape said criticism when a poor performance is put in as apposed to one of the other players.

a agree brown didn't play well tonight but he was covering and try to break down attacks where as kayal did nothing he wouldn't challenge then when he got the ball he played us into trouble by wanting to much time. a think brown was thrown in at the deep end tonight with hardly having any game time under his belt which you could tell contributed to his performance but his will to win can't be overplayed he brings a drive and determination to his game every week and definitely contributes something to the team when he plays well

I think once all the tensions die down over certain players who didn't play as well as they could have and dodgy refereeing decisions, everyone will realize just how good this result was for us.

If we continue to show the same passion and desire in the league, I'm confident that this could finally be our year.

Hard in a seriously diffcult group. Well done neil lennon for a young man he should be proud tonight . Unbeaten against the team that tops seria a. Well done celtic should have had a stonewall * penalty again.

That game will have a knock on effect now ,Thats a massive confidence booster playing against a top team from Italy and Celtic had them rattled especially in the first half .

On to the League now and if they can play like they did tonight for the rest of the season in the SPL ,I have no worries.

    I'm not picky.
How's it ludicrous? The ball never went to him when the cross came in. It went to the far post area. He was "inactive" because the only time he came into play was when the ball was headed down to him, and by then he was onside. Plus he was coming back from an offside position when the cross came into the other player so when the cross came in he was inactive.

He never blocked the goalkeepers view or wasn't interfering with play when the cross came in so was quite rightly not flagged.

agree 100% mate , if not for a couple of horrible decisions by the refs and some good old fashion luck , we would have been progressing from the hardest group in the tournament . a real gutsy hard working performance imo!

I think you're confusing cause and effect here.

You seem to be implying people say Brown is crap simply because they hate him for some unexplained reason.

Whereas in fact, they dislike him for the readily-apparent reason... that he is crap.

See how it all suddenly makes sense when you put it that way round? :icon_mrgreen:

The tactics and off the ball work were phenominal tonight. The best in absolute years that ive seen from Celtic probably since the 2-0 win at Anfield.

Udinese usually rip teams apart with their pace and we never let them do that really, even Arsenal who won against Udinese were really jammy as Udinese gave them a skelping in the match and were very unlucky.

I think we will have to agree to differ here.

Saying that a guy standing right in the middle of the penalty area, only a couple of feet away from where the ball come down, is "not interfering with play" is.. that word again... ludicrous.

And I would feel the same way if it was Gary Hooper we were talking about.

Udinese are jonint top of Serie A, with some world class players and they have lost at home all season.

And yet here is this ragtag bunch or seriously inexperience lads going to the cauldron and not only hold our own but actively taking the game to the league leaders from a far superior team to ours.

anyone picking faults i that performance need some kind of lobotmy.
