I think Broony has always been at this level but that's a debate for another thread :icon_mrgreen:

Commons has been good in the Champions League this season, best player against Benfica in the 0-0 game, the game against Spartak Moscow and he was the only player who could keep possession against Barcelona and he worked his socks off.

Honestly, in this game we aren't going to win any of them just by hoping to score from a counter-attack and not have much else.

We are going to have to bombard the goal every single opportunity we get. None of this trying to walk the ball into the goal, our guys out wide are going to have to be cutting inside from the wings and unleashing a couple of pile drivers to put Buffon to the sword.

I don't care if a few of these shots go wildly off target, as long as we are pulling the trigger fast, early and hard.

Same goes with Hoops - if he sniffs a chance, get the ball on target. just * attack that goal area at every possible opporchancity.

Exactly. We haven't faced a keeper of Buffon's class this year.

The closest was Valdes, who for a top class keeper, isn't the best.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you there. The fact that I couldn't see his class until the Benfica home game doesn't mean it wasn't there.

Not sure agree, I thought Brown was our best player against Benfica at home and thought Commons had a shocker against Barca. That said, the way Barca press is out of this world and if most players aren't making runs it's difficult for a passing player like Commons...

Sometimes I think I'm too hard on Commons simply because he isn't Lubo. :54:

Edited because I realised it was unfair to attribute a "shocker" to Commons in the away game at Barca beased only on watching the highlights. I have to work during our CL games and though I usually watch the full game later, I don't normally want to when we lose. Mea Culpa. I'll try and find a download tonight. Still think he had a shocker in the home game, though.

Two shockers? Really? Commons made some amount of interceptions in our box in the Barca game. Ended up playing most of that game at RB and whenever he got the ball he held it well and switched play for us. I thought he done very well.

Best player against Benfica was wrong, it was Broony. However, he wasn't far behind.

Buffon is a class apart from Valdes imo.

We CANNOT afford to give this mob far too respect. As far as I'm concerned, Lennon better have these guys prepared for * war before they walk out of the dressing room.

Tell Wanyama to hit that wee Giovinco any time he's on the ball.

Tell Samaras to rip the * oout of Leichsteiner and leave him for dust.

Tell Broon to snarl at everything and anything - tell him that Pirlo shagged his missus or something.....as long as he GETS THE * BALL.

Tell Wilson to sit tight at the back and be tall as possible - it's his chance to become a legend.

Tell Ambrose to be the one who pushes up from defence with the ball, but passes into space instead of running into space.

Tell Hooper that he is going to be isolated for most of time, but that these games could determine his England future.

Get every single * article that has been published, and every single * thing that has been said about Celtic from berks in the media and the football world about how we are the underdogs.......well lets show these * how hard the underdogs bark.

    Woof * Woof!!!!!

    * right Paddy!

We need to stop Pirlo, stop Pirlo and you stop Juve. The thing is, we managed to stop Xavi, hopefully we see a repeat of that.

No two ways about it mate.

That's why Brown must play - or even Kayal if Brown is unavailable.

Forster will have to be at the top of his game with Pirlo as well - probably one of the best set-piece specialists in the history of the game (well......behind Chico that is :56::56::56:).

I am actually getting fired up to * just thinking about it :47::47::47::47::47:

You stop Pirlo and you still have Marchisio and Vidal to worry about. The young guy Pogba has been good for Juventus as well. They are a real top class outfit from defence to midfield. They lack a top class striker. They don't have the threat of a del piero or trezeguet like they did in the past

Pirlo is the key to the team though, they play through him. It's like when we played Barca, the key was stopping Xavi and we done that very succesfully. That doesn't mean that Messi and Iniesta and co can't do * all without him, it just * up the game plan to a certain extent.
