I was referring to the overall violence.

not really, as far as I can tell they've only reported on the stewards who didn't let them through. some pics: Verhinderte HSV-Feier: Penible Stewards, Proteste und Polizei - SPIEGEL ONLINE - Nachrichten - Sport

ok, what kind of "overall violence" are you talking about? i've read the german and scottish press and there was no word about any kind of violence - except the (from our perspective strange) behavoiur of the security service at your park immediatly after the game.

Any links available to articles covering the "violence" before, while or after game?

you are joking, don't you? well, i've asked for some reliable sources and not that kind of "dads friend just phoned ...".

look at the last page of the thread and the conclusion by celtboy:

i don't know why you're trying to build up a story where no story is, probably just in order to keep up an artificiall concept of an enemy where no enemy is ... what is this good for?

This bit made me laugh. Julian Cleary & Eddie Izzard will be there so stay near them.
Seriously though, I think there is potential for trouble but our fans must use thir wits and stay out of placed where their is a risk of any sort of confrontations. I heard that there will be quite a few Rangers fans at the game.

I have followed Celtic to Germany twice and both occassions had a great time with the oppossing supporters, no trouble at all. I think that Molloy has made a good point, there is a danger of getting drawn into violence that may be instigated by local factions and that is not at all what we want.

Enjoy the game and respect the local people. We are not Huns, remember that!

there you go: Exclusive: CCTV catches £100k-a-year German football thug leading riot - The Sunday Mail

"A TOP finance expert led a brutal attack by hundreds of German football thugs on three Scots police officers. The Sunday Mail can reveal details of the shocking riot led by Hamburg hooligan ringleader Rene Wurzbach.
The 32-year-old graduate assaulted and injured three cops as his 300-strong mob rampaged through Glasgow city centre."

You still wanna keep defending these guys?

    FFS - don't mention the war! :56:

Seriously though, I don't really understand this thread. Just ten days ago there were * hundreds of HSV-affiliated thugs charging the police in Glasgow city centre, and folk on here are making out "Oh well, but they're our friends really."

It would be a big mistake to think you can judge all HSV fans by the standards of normal decent German people - or vice-versa.

    Hamburg Warning

I have heard from a very good source close to the Club that they have received information that a very substantial Hun / Chelsea Crew are heading over to Hamburg to join up with local forces to cause maximum disruption and chaos.

I have been told the UK / Hamburg Police are aware of the volatile and unstable situation and will be taking all necessary precautions and measures.

So be very careful out there Lhads and * Bless

Police message for Celtic fans going to Hamburg

    Taken from Celtic website:

Police message for Celtic fans going to Hamburg

IN line with normal procedures, Strathclyde Police will be sending a team of officers headed by a Superintendent to Hamburg for this game. The Strathclyde Police role is to liaise with the Police in Hamburg and assist the local policing operation.

The officers will be identifiable by carrying their official Warrant Cards and will also be available to provide general advice to the Celtic supporters.

The safety and security of fans attending the match is paramount and we would endorse the key message from Celtic FC that supporters should use all of their experience to travel well and safely.

In particular, fans should avoid any areas of the city that would bring them into potential conflict with Hamburg supporters and please remember that drinking to excess will place fans in a vulnerable condition.

Do not become isolated from your friends and make sensible travel arrangements in advance to get to the ground safely.

By co-operating with the police and the stewards, your personal safety will be enhanced and the excellent reputation of Celtic fans abroad will be maintained.
