Bought these bad boys on a whim and just had them in a bread roll with a cup of tea. Bliss.

Browsing record shops and finding a CD that you really wanted. Buying digital music doesn't compare to a friendly and inviting service of a record store.

Oh, aye, I mind the "friendly and inviting" sneers they used to give you if you bought a band they didn't approve of.

Any shop I've ever been into has treated every customer the same because they are paying their wages. I was in a good shop the other day in Dundee called Groucho's and every customer was served with a smile and a thank you.

I can't account for every record store but the large majority are their to help people buy physical copies of music.

Hopefully the remaining independent record shops have upped their game and there have of course always been very many record shops who always prided themselves on good customer service (perhaps they are the ones who survived).

Nonetheless it used to be a frequent (and well-founded) stereotype that record shop - or comic shop! - equalled *, judgemental, snotty club-like service.

I always try to support independent shops and small businesses so hopefully the bad ones have gone the way of the dinosaur.
