Idiots who moan flights from Glasgow are "too expensive" and make ignorant comments like "English flights are cheaper", and when you ask what dates they are looking to travel, they want to fly the first week of the Scottish School Holidays. * idiots!!!

It works both ways you * half-wit!! Go to Glasgow Airport when the English schools are off and Scottish schools are back, you'll find the terminals are rammed with English families as its cheaper to fly from Glasgow than England but you don't hear them winging like senseless idiots!

Flying from Scottish airports no matter what time of year you fly is generally dearer if you are flying to Europe. This has nothing to do with a bias against Scotland (as some people seem to think) but a simple case of the flights burning more fuel, taking longer therefore the airline costs are dearer.

The extra fuel burn flying from Paris to Glasgow compared with Paris to Manchester is minimal. Keeping Paris as the example, looking at May, from all UK airports, Glasgow has the cheapest flights of all UK airports to Paris at just £15. Manchester is second at £17, East Midlands third at £20 and so on.

Ofcourse fuel effects the cost of flights, but it makes little to no difference to in the cost of flying from Glasgow to Europe or from an English airport to Europe.

The main contributor to determining the prices of flights from airports around the UK to destinations is supply and demand.

Flight prices from Glasgow are competitive with all major UK airports. The attitude of "English flights are always cheaper" could not be further from the truth and its just more nonsense from people suffering from "Wee Nation syndrome." (Not having a personal go at you here). :celt_2:

Today I've even came across the ignorant comment of "the choice of destinations from Scotland is non-existent". What utter garbage! Glasgow has direct flights to 120 worldwide destinations, from as far north as Reykjavik and Ivalo, to as far west as Las Vegas and Vancouver, to as far south as Bridgetown and Boa Vista to as far east as Dubai and Lahore. To put it into context, in terms of the number of destinations available, only London and Manchester offer more than Glasgow!

Know that, I live in Belfast now anyway. Ive never really understood the pricing on flights.

Last year I booked a load of flights for me and a few mates to travel over to Udinese. All booked with easyjet on the same day.

A flight from Glasgow to Gatwick and a couple from Belfast to Gatwick.
Then everybody from Gatwick to Venice, all returns.

The dearest flights were the Glasgow to Gatwick, followed by the Belfast ones and the cheapest were the Gatwick to Venice ones.

Many times on travels to Europe (when I was living in Scotland) it was cheaper to fly to one of the London airports and then onto the destination rather than fly direct.

It's all a rip off anyway, all flights should be £20.00 return :icon_mrgreen:

I love Brittany, it is my favourite region of France. My aunt, who has been many times to Ireland, thinks Brittany looks very much like Ireland. Not really surprising that I love Ireland and Brittany then ! :icon_mrgreen:
