sorry but being Celtic through and through and a legend and having taken a lot of * last year is at the end of the day irrelevant. Its how your teams perform on the park. His background is irrelevant. Totally irrelevant and far too many fans give credence to this pish

Some excellent posts of support on this thread, great to see. Markybhoy's in particular was well written and ticks all the boxes of what I feel.

In my opinion the BOARD wrongly took a massive gamble by appointing such a young untested management team, especially after the Mowbray fiasco they should have got an experienced mangaer in.
That aside,Neil was appointed and i have backed him...I continue to back him but for his sanity and our fans thirst for glory,I hope he/the players turn this slump around quick!
I believe the BOARD should shoulder the blame, they appointed him but they havn't exactly shoved the boat out...we are being served up a mediocre product.
It's high time they invested in some real quality players(if we can attract them)and make a real statement of intent.

It may be a lot of pish to you but to me what you've said there is * poor.

What Neil Lennon went through last season is irrelevant? Really?? I feel sad for you if that's your attitude.

Neil Lennon put his life on the line to be our manager last season. Just take a second to think about the magnitude of that........he put his life on the line for our club!

That may mean * all to you but I'll tell you something........it meant the * world to me.

The fact that Neil Lennon went through all that stuff doesn't buy him immunity from criticism or a free pass to finish 2nd in the league for ever more. Of course it doesn't. But it sure as * buys him a lot more loyalty from me than to shout for the man to be sacked after 9 league games.

I respect Lennon, he is a celtic legend, but as our manager he needs to take the critisism along with the praise

The Board NEVER push the boat out or have any FORWARD thinking plans.....Reid and Lawwell are only interested in making cheap jibes at rangers. (Holy * & From another Universe) and end up with egg on their faces they dont like being criticised. remember Jan 2008 fiasco 7 point lead at Ibrox and they WOULDNT sign Steven fletcher. and the AGM is next week at celtic park (That will be staged managed) wee mary asking if they will have Celtic OVEN GLOVES in the shop in the bumblebee colours and DONT ask any toe curling questions about CASH or players :31:

Still - bottom FOOTBALLING line is, it makes no difference. In fact, if anything that loyalty malark gets in the way of making the correct footballing decisions.

Never get emotional in business, etc

But to clarify, Lennon has my deepest respect as a man.

I would say that sacking Neil Lennon after only 9 league games would be a knee * reaction and therefore allowing emotions to cloud our decision making.

The calm thing to do just now would be to keep our heads and get behind our manager and the team.

I think one can disagree with Lennons tactics, signings, etc, without criticising the man himself.

Personally I dont think Lennon should be sacked at this point as he deserves at least to get to the end of the season. I am however very pessimistic and believe he should go at the end of the season unless we win the league or see some drastic improvement.

If people want to complain they should complain to the board - the board who have spend net zero over the last 3 years. The board who hired the absolute cheapest option and filled our squad with loans and freebies. This is why the club has declined to such a massive extent.

People moan about our defence but our defence at the weekend was Forster (loan), El Ka (loan), Mulgrew (free), Maj (Free), and I cant remember (Wilson maybe?). Bet you he was free though. We should we expect a decent defence for this level of spending? The board are to blame for this.

you know there are times when Gunt talks sense but that post just there was pretty poor; markybhoy is spot on. i honestly think gunt is by and large a wind up merchant who would find fault even if we won every spl game 5-0 for the rest of the season....too many goals perhaps.

You have to use your head not your heart when appointing.judging a manager. We cant confuse your moral beliefs and emotions with the hard reality of performance. Personally I think most of the successful British born managers are pretty unpleasant people but it almost seems to be an advantage.

    Gunt,
Fair enough but assuming the board will not spend any money on a decent replacement nor decent players, what do you actually hope happens?

If we get rid of Lennon, we are going to bring in a manager from the SPL, or lower championship, or a foreigner who isnt wanted in any better league. And having spent nothing in the last 3 years, I dont see why the board would open their pockets to support the new boss. So all we will do is get rid of a cheap manager and free players and replace them with a cheap manager and more freebies.

No point in my opinion. The issue surely has to be the lack of investment in the team, not the boss who is sticking together a team of cheapest options, free transfers and loan deals

looks like most people in this thread are happy and content with being the second best team in Glasgow!

my opinion has not changed since yesterday,or even the weeks leading up to the hearts game.

we have a team of misfits with no heart and desire, lennon installed that last year and its gone, after 3 seasons without the SPL trophy, you would think each and everyone of them would understand that.

we can talk about injuries!!!!! story of our lives,it happens every * year, our bench warmers need to stand up and be counted.that team against Hearts was as weak as water and someone needs to take responsibliity.

now lennon said that players need to look at themselfs,i agree, but these players need
direction, motivation and all the rest of the team building pish.

this oufit is lost under lennon, legend or not, october, december or may,i do not give a * what month it is,we will not win this league this year

cut our losses now and we might have some hope

Some hope of what? Who exactly do you hope to attract to a club that will not spend any money and will sack even the most dedicated manager even not even 2 years if they dont win the league?

    Job description:

"Looking for a top named manager that will work for relatively little in order to come to the SPL, win the league and qualify for Europe. No money for transfers and an existing team mostly made up of freebies. Loyalty is appreciated though if you fail to win the league in your first season you will be sacked. European qualification is expected, though one should note the dwindling coefficient."

Im sure we will have them queing up...

i dont care who it is, as long as they sort this shambolic defence for a starters, then they can work on the misfiring front men

your job description sounds abit like the modern day manager at present ,that is why we are in this mess, but we will only get another lennon
thats what i dont want,i want someone with a bit of nonce and experience

is that too much to ask for

But consider what we have spent on our defence:

Forster (loan x2), Zaluska (free), Wilson (free), Wilson (free), Maj (free) El Ka (free), Mulgrew (free), Izzy (600k), Cha (free), Matthews (free)

Why would you expect anything else from that kind of spending? The only decent one out the lot is Izzy and he is worth a lot more now than the small amount we paid.

Why realistically will take the job who has a bit of experience, knowing he will get no money to improve what is already there?

Making nonsensical claims does your argument no good at all.

No Celtic fan is happy with where we are at.

You can be unhappy and still want our manager to remain in place.

I know things aren't great at the moment but surely wanting a nonce as our manager is taking things a bit far? :56:
