Owen Hargreaves on a Pay as you Play deal. Immense midfielder although probably will never be as good as he was. Carew could be a beast of a striker in the SPL. Woodgate on a Pay as you Play could be good as well.

No chance of us making any of these signings but I reckon they could all stroll through the SPL and even be useful in Europe

IMO John Carew is just what we need an experienced striker and a great target man also knows his way in europe from the time he spent with Lyon.

Carew is horribly past it. Lost the pace. The wages he would want would be far better put towards a deal for a quality young player with some resale value like the isralei boy Damar.

    Not for me.

John Carew has never been a player that relies on pace. He is a target man who bullies defenders, he's not lost that and is exactly what we need.

He used to rely on the combination of his pace and strength, ala Didier Drogba. His pace coupled with his physique made him unplayable on his day. He is now very immobile and would not justify his inflated wage.

We need a big experienced target man, that's for sure though.

We don't need him for his pace we need him for his aerial presence and experience the guys a powerhouse and great in the air. Pace wise he never was the fastest anyway.

    danny gabbidon
    matthew upson
    jonothan woodgate
    jonohtan spector
    ibrham sonko

any 2 of these on decent wages and we'd stroll the league.

Don't think we'd stroll the league with Sonko and Spector

Joey Barton has said he definitely wants out of Newcastle. Worth a punt?

Would try for woodgate and for carew. If woodgate can stay fit then he would be well worth it and carew defo has the ariel ability. Wouldnt touch barton, not for celtic.

Heard arsenal were interested in him but can only see tht as * journalism tbh would rather have kayal ki and Ledley and brown all picked b4 him therefore no point on paying his dear wages to sit on the bench plus I think Juarez will get more of a chance next season

I'd punt Brown + Juarez for Barton. I'd have barton in my team over Ledley aswell tbh.
