Linked with this guy last year and apparently bid £3 million for him which Izzaguire confirmed (know each other from Honduran national team). His contract is up in December and he's making noise about his desire to move to Europe. Article on the Daily Record website.

If we need a replacement for Ajer we should defos be looking at Jerome Onguene for Salzburg. No idea what he would cost right enough. Im sure there was rumours we asked about him last summer.

I remember being linked with him before he looks a decent player, quick, fairly powerful and a good finisher. Given he is a right winger, I guess it would depend what formation we were planing to play or if he can also play on the left or through the middle, whether we may revisit signing him or not. He has plenty of international caps so no issue with a work permit and given his contract situation you would guess he wouldn't cost too much to sign now or get him on a pre-contract.

I am sure it was rumoured we had a deal in place to sign him last year and Salzburg pulled out, since then he seems to have played the majority of their games.

Salzburg do seem to be a selling club but made over £100m in sales last year and that was probably getting below market value for players like Haaland, Minamino, Samessakou (I thought he was immense when we played then in 18/19 at home) and Wolf due to clauses in their contract or link to Leipzig. Therefore, I would expect you would be now looking at £10m plus to get Onguene and a doubt we would pay that.

Looked a decent player in the youth cup final. Wouldn't mind taking a punt on him.

Players won’t come from Salzburg to us anyway now. We’re both similar “stepping stone” clubs to non home players, but they perform regularly better than us in Europe so their players can make the bigger jumps immediately. Minamino, Haaland, dabbur etc. We need to be seeing what the deal is with their scouting system, that daka kid they’ve got up front is unreal and only 20. They consistently have amazing youngsters

Salzburg also spend big and in turn get better deals. For instance they spent about 5.5 mil on Dabbur from Grasshoppers 4 year ago, * scored nearly 50 goals for them then they sold him for 16mil to Seville. You often pay for what you get. See, Eddy, Ntcham, FF, Jullien.

Also Red Bull's scouting network is absolutely massive and they have a philosophy built in place which allows them to narrow down players early on to who they think can fit into that philosophy.

Funny thing with Salzburg is they have always struggled with CL qualifiers. Think last season was the first time in years they had been in the CL. Did they qualify automatically?

He's good friends with Liam Burt. Hopefully Burt let it slip what he's on and Kennedy wants the same or more and if not take his chance running out his contract

We spend more than Salzburg mate!

Yeah for years I’ve never been able to understand why we have never adopted an Ajax,PSV type scouting/youth system. Similar to what Salzburg have done in the last 10 years now too. It’s obviously successful. And financially hugely successful so I just don’t see how none of the top figures in our club haven’t suggested this...

They’ve got help that they can still tap into the red bull network for scouting, but they’ll probably have about 5 times as many scouts as us they’ve picked up a few players really cheap from African clubs and have done well buying from within their own league on the cheap. They have a feeder club of sorts in the lower leagues in Austria that they’ll put a lot of their youth through to get first team experience

Yeah they use a team called FC Liefering, they put most of their youth prospects out there, to others in the Austrian League or Bundesliga 2.

They also scout the Central European, African, and monitor the big teams youth team markets well and as mentioned all teams play with the same high intensity style so when they lose one of their stars they have another two who could slot in.

In recent seasons they have been spending more than us but brought in an awful lot more too. They spent over £30m on players last year but made more than £100m. That is while probably underselling their star players as well. They also pay a fair bit for young prospects that will likely take a bit of time to reach their first team.

Where we don’t have a RB scouting network to lean on, I do feel we could form a partnership with a team in Central or Eastern Europe where players could go play and also a partnership with an African Academy. I am sure there could be something sorted that would be mutually beneficial for all three.

Yeah we probably couldn’t afford to implement the scale that red bull have but I think with the right partnership and some more investment we could plug that gap. Was it not last year it came out we only had 5/6 scouts and 2 were based in UK and Ireland, I would expect us to be able to increase that
