Markey its a common theme that any suggestions will get met with ''no chance'' or ''he won't come here''.

As ive said before we HAVE money to spend as the McGeady money has virtually not been touched.

Samba wouldnt be on massive wages - he was bought for only 500K 3 year ago but will not be out of our reach - its Blackburn Rovers ffs!

Samba is a man mountain and would improve us no doubt - i like your suggestion m8:50:

The days of the premiership power are slowly dieing too. This isnt 2004 - its 2010. UEFA's financial fair play will be kicking in soon were you can only spend what you bring in. These clubs are already running at losses despite all the money down there - go figure.

If a team like Arsenal - who regularly post profits each year in the region of 50Million a year are tightening their belts then that tells you something.

Good post bud and true :50:

I have admired him for a while, he honestly reminds of of Balde, almost a carbon copy! Naturally for such a big powerful lad he lacks pace but nothing worryingly bad, still only 28 or something I think so in the prime of his career. I honestly think we should do everything in our power to bring Chris Samba to Celtic, he ticks every single box for me, his aerial ability makes him a huge threat at every set piece, he's almost guaranteed to get 5 goals a season.

He's probably better than Balde in the sense he's done it in England.

I was a big fan of Big Bobo and thought he was treated badly by WGS but Bamba is probably a cut above but the frustrating thing is Markey all these suggestions will come to nothing - Lenny or the board are intent on signing * after *. :50:

Yeah, they would rather go for the cheap options who can't defend :38:

It's a true saying, you get what you play for! The board need to get their wallets out and bring an an experienced centre half capable of defending

BBC Sport - Football - Wednesday's gossip column - transfers and rumours

Blackburn captain Chris Samba says he wants to leave the club if the sacking of boss Sam Allardyce is a sign of how the club's new owners will run the place.

Richard Dunne's Aston Villa career has hit a new low after being told he is now the club's fourth-choice centre-back

Villa boss Gerard Houllier could let as many as nine players go, including the likes of Stephen Warnock and John Carew, in a major squad overhaul.

wouldn't mind any of these players if we could get them... which of coarse is another question.

Yeah, you pay peanuts, you get monkeys as saying goes, would be a great purchase if we could prize samba away or even dunne for that matter!

Richard Dunne is reportedly on 62K a week - he may be out of our reach. Or to give my honest opinion we can probably get better value elsewhere. That being said every single player is different and not driven by money.

Maybe the idea of him finishing his career up here with him being a Dublin boy appeals - maybe it doesnt? Who knows. If he does become available i have a feeling Lenny would definetly sound him out. Its all down to the player really and what he feels best for him.

Richard Dunne is a quality defender that much can be said.

Well, he played for Partizan in the CL this season. He's a young defender, very talented imo.

Thats it, a premier league club is likely to come in and offer a lot more money. Those things don't matter to 90% of footballers these days. He may not fancy a drop to the SPL either. Maybe the transfer request came as he doesn't wana be part of the new regime. Maybe he loves fat Sam and hates the fact he isn't boss there anymore and wants out.

This summer was amongst the lowest spending the EPL teams done in years - and its likely to continue. The banks arent having teams encurr massive debts anymore - Uefa arent having it also.

We'd be competing with mid-table EPL teams for Bamba and it would most likely come down to a personal prefrence for the player.

Im sure we've had this arguement before.....

More chance us getting Sol Bamba than being able to sign Chris Samba,

    Argument?

he'd be after massive money to play in Scotland at his peak (now). When he could to another premier league team who could offer the same money- and premier league football. I wouldn't read into his transfer request, possibly came about due to the reasons I mentioned.

Richard Dunne would be class but he is on 60k a week down there and villa want rid , even if he did want to come up here with being Irish and will have a soft spot for Celtic i guess , what type of wages would we be able to offer him top whack i would think 30/35k a week at most 40 at push ,

So we would be asking him to drop at least 20 /25k a week to come up and play in the spl , when i dare say there will be around 7 or 8 clubs in the prem that would want him .

Bamba was made captain this year by big sam so obviously has an ifinity with the manager. His sacking was disgraceful and the fact some unknown is taking them til the end of the season makes it worse IMO. If he feels strongly - he'll go IMO.

If a player had a choice between a team like Birmingham and Celtic. Some will pick Birmingham - some will pick us.
The lure of EPL football isnt the be-all-end-all to every footballer.
