As I keep saying though, what is £7m to English sides like Bournemouth etc, never mind City:56:

I just find it so hard to believe we could get him for any less than £15m.

On the Jordan Ibe scale, Roberts is currently worth 25 million+

Where is 7 million coming from?

Lawwell seems to have some influence at City which might be vital in striking a deal, but aye he is already a 12-15m player...

If reports are true that City spent 4 or 5 million on him and the supposed 12 million figure originally thought of consists of add ons then I really don't think it's as unrealistic as being made out.

We all know what the English think of our league, so I doubt Roberts value has gone up majorly since he has come here, in the eyes of City anyway.

In my opinion he'd be far better off at Celtic for the next 2 or 3 years of his career for his development as a player, especially seeing as we seem to be on the up and look like we could become a CL regular team again. It's going to be very difficult for him to get into the City team with the millions they can potentially spend and at his age it is crucial that he plays regular football.

It's probably worth pointing out that if we are going to try and get him on a permanent then it'll probably need to be now, because if he performs in the CL proper for us (I'm certain he will) then his value will increase and it probably will become unrealistic.

Realistically if a deal had the potential to be struck. That's probably the maximum we could go up to in terms of a bid...

Then City would laugh at us. They pay Aguero that every 6 months.

What has Roberts done here to justify a 25 million pound price tag.
He good player but apart from first champion league game.
He hasn't been outstanding every game we played.
He had nightmare in Hun game last year

It doesn't matter what he has done here.

    He's English
    He's good
    He's young
    He's got a good attitude
He plays in a position which demands high fees for quality players
    He's on Man City's books

All of those factors make him an expensive player, regardless of what he has done down South. Man City saw enough to pay £5-6m up front with large add ons when he had barely kicked a ball for Fulham, ffs.

I'd love it to happen but I'm going to be pessimistic as * when it comes to this, I'm afraid.

Ibe has more experience than Roberts and was on the cusp of an England call-up (thought he was a full international since he was involved in their kit launch). Ibe is a good player and you're underselling him massively.

Hope I'm wrong but I just can't see Robert's coming here permanent.

    Ibe isn't an England international.

A large proportion of Liverpool fans were laughing at how they got £15m for him. Technically, even at this stage, Roberts is miles ahead.

    I agree. I think he's a great player.

    I don't think he's worth £25m+ though.

More chance of us signing Joey Barton than Roberts. Even if City were selling him a team like Everton or Southampton would probably pay £20million for him, younger and better than players like Deulofeu and Redmond.

That is what I am thinking as well.

It would the coup of all coups if we pulled it off.

Yeah but do the teams in England think that? I highly doubt it, he's only really proven himself in Scotland for six months and played a couple of European qualifiers.

There's absolutely no hope in * those teams would pay 20 million for him.

Just to be clear I think 20 million would actually be a fair price, I would have said the same about Van Dijk and Wanyama though.

No one in England will pay City 20 million for someone who hasn't even kicked a ball for them.

I mind before Denayer came here City had already rated him as a £10m player before he'd kicked a baw.

That is how things work down there.

I do love Roberts though. He is the kind of player you pay money to see and has a fantastic attitude at 19. The potential he has is limitless, IMO. Everything is there to be a top class player in his area of the park. That is why I think he is out of our reach, not so much because of how good he is even now, but the potential.

To be fair, they only paid £2m for him or something and the rest is made up in appearance fees and how well he does or something is it not?

if ever we could should break the bank - its for him. He seems the real deal.

One off Celtic best signing would be get Brendan tied down for next few years.
Can see epl club in for him if Celtic does well in champion league if we win tonight
