At this moment in time Watt is simply not good enough to play for Celtic he's too naive and raw. Its up to him to knuckle down when he's away on loan and come back a more improved and mature player...we'll see what happens.

It's funny that he's a friend of a friend to everycunt on here and everyone knows what he gets up to. :smiley-laughing002: He's 19 and has rarely had a bad game for Celtic. His effort or attitude on the pitch can't be questioned. He never stops chasing the ball & he's unselfish as far as young strikers go. Maybe he was just sent out to get first team football in a league that's better than our own.

8 goals in 12 starts and two dozen appearances from the bench - mostly five minutes here & there - says otherwise. His record for the Scotland U21 side is very good as well. He's more than good enough to play for Celtic and he's got a huge future ahead of him if he stays on track.

A loan move doesn't mean his time at the club is over. It's the norm for most youngsters at big European clubs (see Lukaku, Deulofeu, et al.).

Hopefully he makes the most of it.

More of our 18-19 year olds should be sent on loan for game time IMO.

Well, I am normally going to see Lierse - Gent, but that is only in December. However, I got some friends who are Lierse fans and they will gladly keep me up-to-date. I will try to post some updates here from time to time.

EDIT: maybe I am also going to see Anderlecht - Lierse on 29 september, as Anderlecht plays not too far from where I live.

It fustrates me to see another young player who doesnt seem to be getting a fair chance to fulfill his potential with us. I think in years to come this will be an issue which will continually resurface and that is that its very tough for young players to make it here. At time we have had some of the best emerging talent in Scotland but it seems we would rather look abroad and pay more in wages and transfer fees.

We need to give our youth a chance to gain experience.

Another player who i think should go on loan is Dylan Mcgeouch. Against Real Madrid in the USA i think he was our best player and then in the same game he broke his draw and hardly featured when he returned and we were into playing competative games.

If his attitude is as bad as what all the rumours suggest then i wish somoeone from within the club will come out and state that mayb it is something that Tony needs to work on to give clarification to the fans.

When will we see a player come through the youth system who is celtic born and bred? A la Maldini, Terry, Carragher?

Can't be compared to the likes of Maldini, as one didn't stay and the other wasn't good enough to stay.

The last one was probably Paul McStay.

Of course I'm not comparing them to the likes of Maldini :56:

He asked when are we going to have someone come through who is Celtic born and bred. There's been plenty.

Aye, I was focusing on the a la Maldini, Terry and Carragher bit because that's what we've not had since McStay. They kind of players are almost once in a lifetime though.

Yeah but what i was meaning was more like a player who has come through the ranks and is a mainstay in the first team who is really like an epitome of the club.

Mayb im being harsh on Mulgrew, I like him and his story- how he has worked his way back to celtic. I like him as a footballer too. but i just dont see him in the same way as what Terry and Maldini are to Chelsea and Milan.

I think it will be some time before we see one such player who stays in the first team throughout his career due to our signing policy.

That's weird. I was thinking about him after yesterdays game. On reflection it is probably for the best that he is out on loan because with the forward players we have now it's hard to see where he would fit in at the moment.

Hopefully he comes back with a load of games under his belt and a better player for it.
