Tony Watt with Lierse, 2 months and 13 days with club:

    324 minutes played - 7 appearances, 2 starts, 2 goals, 1 assist and 1 red card.

Alot has happened in quite a short time played.

I can understand the way he wants to play. He wants the ball early and he wants to fly at the defense. He needs the space to do that.

Watch this. This is direct football. This is what he wants to do. He doesn't want to wait too long to get the ball and it's about getting the ball up the pitch a lot quicker.

This is what they should be practicing. Ball from defense to the halfway line as quickly as possible and go.

They aren't going to alter the gameplay of the entire team to suit Tony ffs. :smiley-laughing002:

You may be sure we won't.
    Why should we?

I can't help the way he plays, but i can understand the mentality of a striker wanting the ball early, when there is lots of open space to run into.

How's that changing the gameplay? They might be better practicing that in training rather than how to give away free-kicks.

Here's the highlights from the game at the weekend. Tony played ok. I just think you'd put Menga and Tony up front in a 4-4-1-1. The defense and midfield's too narrow and they can't hold an offside line. First goal, the ball should get played to the strikers, he has two to hit and he goes for the big switcheroony, to the right back?

Second goal they should have played the boy offside. Menga and Watt looked dangerous when they went through the middle and played the ball a bit more direct.

The Celtic striker is on loan with the Pro League side but the move is rapidly turning into a nightmare.
Watt was ordered to train on his own this week after his second major fall-out with Menzo, who has already criticised the 19-year-old’s fitness levels.
Lierse refused to comment on the incident last night but it’s understood Watt refused to cooperate with Menzo in training and was ordered home after being told to train by himself.
And last month Watt was also reportedly sent home from training because he refused Menzo’s requests to play as a left winger.
Watt’s spell in Belgium has proved turbulent since he was farmed out by Celtic in August.
After scoring on his debut, Menzo insisted Watt had to work harder in training to get into shape.
The player responded by whipping his top off to show his physique after he scored in his next game. He was then sent off 30 seconds after coming on a sub against Charleroi for an elbow.
Watt has also been dumped out the Scotland Under-21 squad by Billy Stark and his future at his loan club now looks set to be in serious doubt after the latest incident.

A lot of it gets blown out of proportion, and one story becomes 8 which are *....but there's no doubt that there are issues there with him, to be honest.

Probably soon be time for the loan deal to be cut and him returned - Daibhi would be * delighted!:smiley-laughing002:

There's just too much negativity surrounding him and his time in Belgium at the minute..

We should offer to cut the deal and being him back and take it from there..

Take him back in January and get him back in amongst the first team squad. Can't see how he can be any worse than our forwards are at the moment !!

    :50:

Maybe his stint in Belgium under this Menzo character will make him realise what he had at Celtic, and he'll return a new man! :smiley-laughing002:

Trust the record not too mention that it was never a red! :31:

Roskopicachu has made some good posts highlighting that Lierse game doesnt suit him, but sugesting that they change it to suit him is mental tbh! :smiley-laughing002:

A lot of players would relish being out of their comfort zone and try and adapt their game for the future. Unfortunalty Watt seems to have little ambition :54:

He isgetting closer and closer to being a Riordan/O'Connor every week :54:

Were the likes of Frank MacAvennie, Charlie Nicholas or even Mo Johnston before he became a * all players of high moral fibre and who were glowing examples in training?

To be fair, he's shown the work ethic in the pitch. We just need to find a way to properly slap a bit of sense into him.

You don't even know what's happening with him over in Belgium, just hearing loads of rumours. I see that he has scored 2 goals in 2 starts though !! Get him back here, if he is training well get him back into the squad.

Tireless on the pitch, celtic in his blood and only still 19 years old. People here are jumping to conclusions quicker than the polis in Amsterdam ffs
