When he made his debut and scored twice I was cautious in my praise for him. Maybe he got lucky. Maybe he has a bad touch etc. and all he has is good finishing.

No. This kid is something special. Every time he's played he's surpassed my already high expectations of him. I said it before and I'll say it again. if someone came in with a £10m bid for this guy tomorrow I'd so no way. This guy could be the next Tevez. And guess what? This kid is 18. he's Scottish and he plays for Celtic. Can't believe we got him for £100,000. Fully deserves a Scotland call up.

Like I said, no pressure... but it's not unrealistic to think that he could make it to that level one day.

Certainly. Off topic I know but thought I'd mention this.

Wanyama is 21 and playing for Celtic. He's just had the game of his life and shown the world he could be a superstar soon.

When Yaya Toure was 22 he was playing for Metalurh Donetsk.

Ha, same here, only by a year mind but still.

No matter what he goes on to achieve now, he'll never score another like that. You can only begin to imagine what would've been going through his head after slotting it home.

    Well done young man!

    I'm not picky.
Watt is fast becoming a huge talent already at the age of only 18. I don't want to get ahead of myself by saying anything but for him to come on against Barcelona and score the winner is huge for the young guy.

In hindsight I wonder how he would have done if we started him instead of Miku because in the last 20 mins or so when he was on he gave Mascherano a tough time - who should have been off after bringing Watt down.

    Huge potential :50:

Makes me so happy to see such a great player come through. He looks like he could be world class if he avoids injury. Problem for him is its all down hill from tonight lol

Really? I think from the start he looked a bit special. He kind of reminded me of Craig Beattie when he broke through and before his hamstrings went but actually he is already better than he ever got.

    * brilliant wee Tony! An 19yo Tim going on and scoring against the mighty Barca. He couldn't stop smiling during his post match interview and I don't blame him.

    * brilliant young man. Enjoy the moment son, you're living the dream! :celt_2:

I thought he was unfortunate to find himself on the bench tonight but he really made a statement when he came on eh? :smiley-laughing002:

This bhoy is going to be a superstar.

I rarely say this about young players coming through because ive seen it many a times and it doesn't come to anything (Burchill, Donnelly, Wallace, Byrne...) but Watt has the key component (Pace) and then he has all the other tools to go with it.

I knew he would * score tonight, I'm so happy for him.

I think he should be a regular in Scotland first team squads from now on. The national team has had a real problem with scoring goals recently and Fletcher seems to be the only other striker we have with any real quality at the moment. Tony will only get better, we need more youth in the national team now anyway. Best Scottish striker there is now IMO and that includes Fletcher.

I agree this is a great part of his game, but for me its his composure and maturity for such a young age is outstanding. He's hardworking, always got his head up and not scared of * all. He should get a new improved long term contract as a reward In my opinion.
